I actually like my red interior quite a bit. Yes, it could use a bit of a refurbishing, but I'm still happy with it and I don't think I could ever switch it out for a different color.

I am so different from you all. I absolutley love and favor maroon interior over black. Everyone has black. If you value rarity and keeping with the factory interior color one day in the future you all will look back and wish you hadn't of thrown your good red interior in the trash in favor of the all more common black. I have new never installed black leather '89 seats I will trade for absolutley flawless like new condition maroon seats. How's that for a change !

at least someone agrees with me! And the cushy '86 seats are way more comfortable imo ;)

Another thread back from the dead! lol!

All you guys who love red interior:

Wanna buy some 88/89 red/maroon interior parts? :)

I have a '88 Durban maroon that is soon to be parted and it has decent seats, carpet, and other interior parts like crack free upper door panels. The dash and instrument cluster hood are showing some dry spots. I think the console may be crack free as well.

Any interest?

The color is actually referred to as chestnut .

I think the idea was Mitsubishi’s signature the three diamonds is a family crest of a rhombus or chestnut design.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitsubishi

The Mitsubishi company was first established as a shipping firm by Yatarō Iwasaki (1834–1885) in 1870. In 1873, its name was changed to Mitsubishi Shokai . The name Mitsubishi (三[[wikt consists of two parts: "mitsu" meaning "three" and "hishi" (which becomes "bishi" under rendaku) meaning "water caltrop" (also called "water chestnut"), and hence "rhombus", which is reflected in the company's famous logo. It is also translated as "three diamonds"

Red is a commonly used in Mitsubishi color schemes and in the country of Japan for that matter.

I have a near perfect black interior that I have wanted to swap into my shetland beige car, but just can't seem to bring myself to do it even though the maroon is shot...only color I think that looks good with the maroon.

Black interiors are just too plain IMHO. My Conquest has the red interior and I love it. Hopefully it will be sold soon so I can go get my S2000 and it will also have a red interior. I guess you could say I have a thing for red interiors.

The red interiors IMO would look good, if it was just the seats and maybe parts of the door panels.

The fact everything is red (dash mostly) makes it look to0 much like...an 80s car...lol Also, the red interiors look higher class and lose the sporty appearance...probably mostly because its maroon and not "performance" red. But, we also have to remember, these cars were high dollar luxury cars in their day, so, maroon interior at the time looked classy.

I, for one, love the black and tan...but...a black and maroon would probably look pretty cool.

But, at least they didn't put blue interiors in these cars. Blue looks like hell in anything but a 60s car :P

Maybe I'll mix the red interior in my flatty with some black before I leave for PF and I'll see what sort of responses I get. Edited by Coke

LOL I definatly have to agree with that statement. Especially on a dark colored car.
