pagemo
I have completely lost interest in finishing this , my yellow car is almost finished and i just dont want to do another one. The body was a perfectly straight 89 conquest no rust anywere ever. The boody has been stripped to a shell the entire underside of the car has been cleaned and prepped for paint. I installed subframe connectors and both doors are hanging and work up and down. Still needs to have the sill on the passenger side welded in and the bottom of the gullwings welded in. I have all of the pannels cut and bent just needs finishing. This is just the shell there is no suspension on this vehicle at all. The roof and all of the door jamb drip rail ect is done. needs to have nitrogen charged struts installed to hold the doors open. Can send more pictures by email. I would like to get $1500 for the shell and i have a complete suspension, trans ect that can go with the car if needed for a few extra $$ http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg1/pagemo/DSC00070.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg1/pagemo/DSC00072.jpg http://i244.photobucket.com/albums/gg1/pagemo/PICT0001.jpg Edited August 26, 2009 by pagemo

jonboyb
Someone pick this up quick.........because Scott owes me $100 if you do :hmm3grin2orange: And Bad2Rass for that matter. We bet him when he bought the yellow car he'd never get around to the gullwing again after having a running car. This is one situation where I'm actually sad to be right. Seriously though guys, this car is very well done and not some backyard hackjob. I can't even fathom the manhours in it...but I would bet 1500+ isn't a stretch. Heck, Scott and I have talked more than 100 hours on the phone working out details on the project. For anyone who hasn't met Scott, he's likely one of the mostjz perfectionists to ever walk the earth (sorry dude......sometimes the truth hurts...LOL) Anyways, hopefully Pure Insanity will chime in here as he's seen the car and used to do this kind of thing for a living. $1500 wouldn't even pay for the time spent on the hinge mechanisms and subframe connectors
BOHO
I hope you decide not to sell it scott...I know how it is though....Someone should snatch this up quick....worth every penny.
modifyd
By far one of my favorite projects... bump to keep it at the top - someone finish this!!
BC_99
Oh man I am soooo tempted to come get that thing. That is gonna be one sick car when its on the road. My wife would SH#T a goose if I bring home another project car. hmmmmm. Somebody buy this thing before I wreck my marriage. GLWS. Dan
pagemo, Why did you decide to go with gullwing doors vs lambo style scissor doors? I would think there would be a lot less fabrication involved in using a standard scissor hinge. Dan

This was to be a pure nostalgia car to mimic the 2 or so built in Japan.
Truth
Good luck Scott, I hope a true enthusiast picks this up. Oh, and why gullwing over lambo? Because: Gullwing>Lambo.
thagremlin
man looks like an awesome project.. i say you just swap everything over from the yellow car in the back ground.. having a custom gullwing is alot nicer..
pagemo
Not sure where to start... Jon thanks for calling mejz i thought we were friends LOL.. after talking to you tonight i actually think i may have issues! Dan, I didnt choose to do Lambo doors because they are bolt on not custom and i guess i have always had the need to be different! That and the few gullwing cars that were done were awsome so i wanted to build one. Stripping the yellow car at this point is not an option. its completely rebuilt probably 95% restored, mpi, more custome parts than i can count, and should be painted in a week or so. I am not coming to any more meets with out a conquest! The bottom line is Jon and kyle were right i bought another car and just have spent so much time fixinging it that I have lost interest in the Gullwing project. That and the economy stinks and spending alot of money on 2 conquests is just a bad idea. With that said i am having second thoughts on this already and if it is not gone quickly i will probably just drop the sale and reside to let it sit until im ready, after all it not costing me anything to sit in the basement. My wife even told me this is dumb to sell it ..go figure I really want it finished one way or another! Pagemo/Scott
jonboyb
Heck...if Shonda is on board with you keeping it than dang skippy let it sit till you're motivated again. If my wife gave me a go ahead on 1% of the projects I consider I'd have my whole driveway and half the cul-de-sac full....and I have a LLLOOOONNNNGGGG driveway. Keep it my friend. Convette
damn man, just keep it and finish it. Like you said, its not costing you anything unitll your ready. I've seen this project a long time ago and always wondered what came of it. Don't go out like that. Just keep it.
thagremlin
agreed with all.. if you have the room. store it and slowly build it.. but finish one project first.. your already so far to just quit.. keep your vision man
cyberquest
if you sell it and someone else finishes it and you come across it at a meet your gonna kick yourself in the butt cause it was your dream. cover it and put it to the side, the newness will wear off that yellow one too, about the time you realize your car is just like everyone elses you will gain interest back in your project. That question was basically the main point of our conversation last night and I think I about have him conviced to keep it. Just wait till you guys see the yellow one Scott bought it to just have one to drive but his "perfectionism" kicked in and now it's been dang near a FULL restoration. Not to mention it's got a fresh version of his MPI setup underhood that was making like 370 RWHP at low boost. I certainly hope he gets tired of the yellow one....I have dibs :hmm3grin2orange:

AndyW
yes, this is the downside of having 2 starquests. Iv gotten burnt out on my green one a few times. I have my yellow 88 car I drive daily and tinker with so the green car has been on stand neglected for months. But I'll never sell it, I just tuck it off to the side for a few months at a time and get back to it when I can. Glad your decided to keep it. $1500 was just giving it away. Cant wait to see the final project.
