Only a starquest lover could appreciate this photo, haha. Pile of OEM Mitsubishi hardware for the engine assy:

Honestly, I've had enough with the silver and black. So I wanted a contrasting color for the engine block/pan. Went back and forth and ended up just shooting it body color. I think it came out good. Just have some minor cleanup to do and I'm ready to start assembling the rotating assy.

Cylinder head is currently at Engine Machine Service. Hoping to have it back in a few weeks.

I think the theory is that it helps with oil return? But I reckon the real reason is so when you're driving it you can have a little smirk, because you know that even the inside of the block is painted :-).

I guess I'll have to cross that bridge if it happens. To be honest, the machinist applied it without telling me. It is paint made to be applied to internal engine components.

The machine work was performed in 2001..the engine has been in storage since.

I've done a lot of second guessing during this build and it has cost me years of time and money. Not going to do that anymore, have to move forward with the decisons that I have made in the past and actually finish this car. It's only been a few months since I sold my other conquest, but I'm really missing driving them. Made a promise to myself that this car will be running/driving before I even consider buying another one.

what happens when the paint flakes off and goes into the oiling system ?

It won't, that's Glyptal, its very heat tolerant and remains fairly flexible. Ever pull something apart that had a "tell-tale" bit of red stuff on a screw so the manufacturer knew someone opened it up? Same stuff.

SO is that a good thing or not or is it just a matter of preference to paint the inside

of the block?

the engine is painted with Glyptal paint.

it is painted and set to dry for a few days.

once dry it should be baked in an oven for a certain ammount of time.

this paint is even resistant to electricity to a certain point.

Thanks guys.

Not many updates this year in general. Car is currently in a storage locker. I just relocated to central pa and moved into a new home this past weekend after living out of a hotel room for 2 months. I don't see myself working on the car in the near future while we get settled in and take care of several items pertaining to the house.

Good thing is that I now have a 24 x 40 high bay detached garage that is heated and cooled to work in!

I have the pictures but haven't had the desire to re-create the thread.   I'm not sure I could even remember the write-up portions of what was lost from 2014 to current.   If there is anything specific you would like to see, let me know and I can see what I can do.

I'm not sure who the actual owner of this site is, but if charging a nominal annual fee for access would help upgrade it to where larger images could be hosted, I'd definitely consider it. I've certainly gotten a lot of good information from the site already and expect I will continue to do so.
