89PalermoSHP
Not that Ive seen a million pumps but my buddys wifes heat wasnt working. We did the heater core, hoses, temp switch, and finally the pump last night. Nothing like throwing parts at a problem but I wish we would have started here lol. The car didnt overheat or show any signs of a bad pump but it was pretty obvious when we pulled it off. Its a 99 Sable and they must have an issue with internal block rusting... http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w202/89PalermoSHP/Mobile%20Uploads/20140308_205120.jpg

tsi_tom
I have seen the same thing on a Sable. I thought it was from lack of antifreeze changes.
89PalermoSHP
Maybe the coolant was changed at some point and they didnt use distilled water??
TexasQuest
That's what I'm thinking. Or they just used straight tap water, no antifreeze.
Skullzaflare
friends eclipse was like that, her step dad insisted it was a headgasket saying "headgaskets are wear items that need replaced every 100k" loli told them pull the pump first, looked just like that
87redcat
Now that's a new one for me... head gasket a wear item...

Shelby
lol head gaskets on a ford ARE a wear item,, most desolve , so yes I'd say replaceing a ford factory gasket should be part of normal maintaince
sellerfeller
have been told it was the dex-cool antifreeze that caused the corrosion and clogging... had a 2000 lumina that formed what looked like an ant bed inside the radiator filler neck... it seemed to eat the engine from inside out. Dred_85.5_TSI
YES! Dex-Cool is crap anyone that still has it in a car is on borrowed time. Dump it, flush it, and, replace it with plain old green stuff.
averse
That's not a big time water pump failure. Sam (conquestTSIguy) had one of the fins on his pump snap off and fly inside the engine block somewhere. That's a big time problem!
Shelby
hum major failure is when it comes off takeing radiator and a/c condenser and any thing else in it's way lol
screemin eagle
That's very common with the Taurus's and sable's. They had a huge slushing problem with the cooling systems. Before you go any further there is one line for the heater core under the hood that ties into a metal hard line. Make sure it's not plugged with sludge. Same thing happened to my mother in laws Taurus and that's where the problem was.

BOHO
I have to put a water pump in my b3000 3.0...I'm sure my pump will look very similar.
Shelby
I've seen all sorts of pump impeller failures , I'm not so sure it's always the use of tap water in the cooling system as much as it is just plain poor metal the impeller was made with , so much of our parts are made with inferior china junk metal these days
89PalermoSHP
Im hoping they sell the car by summer lol.its just a shame that she didnt have heat all winter and niw its 40 degrees out
