techboy
I wanted to get one of these last year when they were selling them, but I hesitated and then they were sold out. So I grabbed one this year. Here's what it looks like when it arrives. Comes with a sticker 😁 It's a VERY similar unit to the old Trilogy FPR that some of you old schoolers might have. Mine took a dump a few years back and would no longer hold fuel pressure. I like that this unit comes with fresh gaskets and hardware for the price point. To adjust FP you have a lock nut and an adjustable nut. Make sure you loosen the lock nut before you install on the car. The adjustable FP nut adjusts with a 5/16" Removal and installation is easy enough. Here's what it looks like installed on the car. FSM states that fuel pressure for the Starquest should be between 35-38lbs. Most everyone I've talked to has them set to 38 if you're running stock injectors. At first start my pressure was 45. I backed it down to 40 and I'm going to leave it there for now. I have a little hiccup above 3K RPM's that I'm trying to diagnose, so I'm going to see if a touch extra fuel does anything. I need to move a bunch of stuff in the garage to even get the car out, so I'll get it out this weekend and report back.
TexasQuest
Nice write up. I've had the SPA regulator for several years without any issues. I have mine set at 40 psi and the car seems to like it.

WhatIsIt86
Great write up. I was looking to do one of these because It'll be years before I swap my car. How did you get your photos small enough to be able to post on the forum?

They are linked from another photo site. I really need to buy one of these regulators for my driver quest before they go out of stock again. Unfortunately, that means more delays on getting back on the body work.

Just remembered i have an old photo bucket account I could probably use for this. Thanks! Edited June 15, 2023 by WhatIsIt86
techboy
So here's my report back ... I've driven the car on two occasions now since installing the adjustable FPR and I have to say it totally fixed the hiccup I was having. Kinda funny to me b/c I actually swapped OEM's FPRs at one point thinking it might be a fuel issue, but I think in the end I just needed a little bit of extra fuel. I don't think my car has ever run this good since completing the resto. Kinda kicking myself for not buying one last year. Oh well. Between this and a wideband you can really figure a lot of things out even on a basically OEM setup. Good luck out there.
