Any out there in SQ land? Just curious, as the wife and I took our CCH safety courses and tests yesterday and I will be going to the courthouse next Fri to finish the application process. Just curious about what you carry, if you carry at all. Please, if you do not support CCH and the NRA and the 2nd amendment, DO NOT POST HERE. This isn't a place for your debates on your ideas about guns and gun control...START YOUR OWN THREAD! This is about CCH and if you live in a state where you can get licensed to carry, and if you are licensed, what do you carry and why? For those that aren't up to speed on the term CCH it stands for Concealed Carry Handguns, in the state of NC. So...the floor is open.

It's hard as nails up here in the communist state of Maryland to even begin to acquire a carry permit. I mean, w/ the new regs on "anything sold" the state police are back logged 6-12 months/I believe last I heard was 60k/90k just in handgun purchase applications! :( Edited by kidjc

I approve of this thread! I have 2. A 9mm ACP and a S&W .45 revolver. 9mm for general target shooting or a lightweight carry. The .45 to knock a fool straight back out my front door. I firmly believe in my right to own/carry as well as the right to defend my home.

Although currently in my father's possession due to probation not allowing me to have them... for now

Why is there a second amendment? In case they don't follow the 1st. :)

#1 rule NEVER tell anyone you are carrying a gun.

For example, casually mentioning to a friend at a resturant you are carrying. Someone at the next table hears that and calls the cops. Legally you are ok having the gun but it becomes a huge PITA very quickly.

Obviously law enforcement is exempt from this since it's a crime not to declare when dealing with them.

Carry something you will carry every day.

A 50 cal desert eagle is cool but hard to conceal. Not to mention heavy. The point of a CCH is to carry all the time. You want something small to mid size that you feel comfortable with.

Try different holsters

One size fits all doesn't work. Depending on your dress some solutions may not work. Shoulder and ankle holsters are most common. Find what you are most comfortable wearing.

Make your holster choice practical

The point of all this is self defense. You need something you can access quickly. Having something with all the bells and whistles included does no good if it takes you a minute to get the gun out.

Carry every time I leave the house. When I was younger there was only a handfull of people I was actually (afraid is not the word)

respected... because they trained me. Now that I'm a little older (and wiser) I have realized a few things. That's why I carry. That and I want to be able to protect my family in a worst case senario. You still have to avoid trouble. If you see punks walking toward you on the street, you walk to the other side. You have at least tried to avoid a conflict. All this adds up if you ever have to defend yourself.

There are a few organizations out there that offer insurance/legal funds and or representation if the worst occurs. Not a bad idea in this society.

Oh and I usually carry what the standard issue FBI agent has.

Lots of peeps packing for PF14

LOL Don't criticize anyone's ride! No tea bagging business at PF!

I don't even think you can look at a guns direction in California, let alone carry. Of course, the criminals can do what ever they want. But not regular folk.

Good for you guys that can. If I could, I'd pack like Clint Eastwood!

Yep, Indian is cool, But being so close to that Nazi state Illinois sucks. and Ohio doesn't honor our permit. but my wife carries a Taurus TCP (pink) of course. and i have a S&W 38 revolver. inside the waist band. i almost feel naked without it. i do everything with it on. work on the car, cut wood, ect ect. and Indiana is cool too because we also have a bring your gun to work law, which says you can have your weapon locked in your vehicle irregardless of what the "company" policy is. now some places are obviously exempt from this like casinos, steel mills, post office, ect ect. now Britt, take your time in you choice of fire arm, cheaper is not always better, and i personally like a revolver. no need to **** and lock a semi auto and have that tension on the spring all the time. and if you look at revolvers, make sure it is a single action double action. They make some darn comfortable inside the waist band holsters for them too.

I carry a Keltic Pf9 everyday. I have a few different pistols of varying size and value, but I like keltec.

I have two p11's also. They are simple and low cost, but not "cheap". In 10 years of keltec ownership they have been reliable and accurate.

I like the belt clip feature that allows inside waist band carry without the added bulk of a holster. Being a fat a**, this is a plus for me.
