speedyquest
@Technology - Its just an illusion from the poor picture angle. Its level with the bottom of the cross member. I took care to ensure it wasn't an issue. The air dam would hit before it would. @movinon - Yea dude but I'm starting to tire. I've been working on this thing non-stop since Friday last week. I still have tons to do... Too much...

Convette
I'm just saying something more substantial for tubing. I use 1-1/4" DOM for mine, still prolly not EXCELLENT is a crash, but stronger than what I had none the less. Obviously for your own safety, but also for the car. I crashed a 240 a few years ago, super slow speed front hit, but it destroyed the car casue I had no bumper support..( bought it that way..was a turbo car at one point) http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/20130301_165617_zps637722f2.jpg I know your pretty far into it now, and at this point might need to be something you come back to, but just as a heads up. Very curious to see the hood work out ect. Great work so far, most importantly your learning.

speedyquest
I appreciate the heads up mbruneax haha. And thanks for looking out converts. I hear what your saying and your right. I am super far and can't redo it and hope to finish but I'll definitely need to build another one. Besides my welds are ugly, structural but geez they are ugly lol. I'll have a huge update tonight. speedyquest
Oh I do mbruneaux lol. Well its the end of Friday... the idea was to have the car painted by now. As you might guess its not. I did the rest of the fabrication for the hood and also the rear over-fenders. I also sanded the hood down and started thinking about what to do with the quarter panel and fender sections that meet the door sill side skirt. I will be deleting them to give a more coke bottle shape to the car. My hope is that tomorrow I can finalize what I will do to delete those, do a bit of bondo work, prime the car and let it dry, sand it down with 400 grit sand paper, build the temp paint booth in dereks garage, and... well spray the car and panels. Its going to be a lot of work but... I hope I can finish it. The car will need time to dry before I can put the body stuff back together and drive it home. After giving it a day to dry I'll start putting the engine back in and the rest of the stuff I tore out. On to what I did today! http://i.imgur.com/BXQxRAN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/77PTXUB.jpg http://i.imgur.com/wSppVOi.jpg http://i.imgur.com/KQjXB73.jpg http://i.imgur.com/yjSDxbk.jpg http://i.imgur.com/e9cyWKA.jpg http://i.imgur.com/D34xtnc.jpg

CarlosFley
Wait... so, I kinda don't get it... did you just replace your flatty fenders with fatties or are you keeping the flatty and then going OVER them with fatty fenders?
dukaine
I think the plan is to go fat tie but later on maybe flat tie accord what he said last week. It was easier for him to get fat tie 1/4s
speedyquest
Hey guys, so Im back home and i didn't make my deadline. I will be going back to Derek's in two weeks to finish the thing. @ Carlos - What I am doing is swapping the front flatty fenders with widebody ones and then using wide body rear quarters to make over-fenders for the rear. There are several cool benefits to doing this. One of them being I will have more space for a wider wheel than if I started out with a widebody. The flatty suspension is actually a bit narrower so I'm gaining about an inch on each corner. Another aspect was like Dukaine said, I looked for long time for someone who was willing to cut unrusted flatty rear quarters out so I could just replace them... Never happened. So here we are lol. In this picture you can see how the rears will be. http://i.imgur.com/foAx06R.jpgThis is the car as of me leaving it early this morning. http://i.imgur.com/7jV3E6d.jpg Edited July 14, 2014 by speedyquest

speedyquest
Its official, movin on and I will be driving up next Friday after work to finish up painting the car and depending on how fast it dries, putting it back together. Worst case scenario I'll go back up two weeks after that and put it back together and drive it home. I'm really looking forward to having it back together and taking it to the all-mitsu cookout that Curt is putting on again this year. Convette
Helluva effort man. So with the rears.. did you cut the quarters out on the stock body? Cause your going to rub like crazy if not... I'm sure you've seen what I had to do. http://i177.photobucket.com/albums/w239/johnboy9788/IMAG1987_zpseunaogrg.jpg
speedyquest
Honestly I didn't do anything with them yet. I haven't yet decided what I'll do with it. I have time to decide though because I won't be changing my wheels right away. When I decide I'll remove the rivets, cut the fenders out and weld them, And reattach the over-fenders.
