I'm really thinking strongly about trading the Legacy for a boosted Daily Driver (like a Saab or Volvo turbo from the late 90s). Wish I had the scratch for some of the other cars on here! The only nissan I've ever wheeled with was an xterra, and it wasn't built, so it's not a fair comparison, but it was kinda' like wheeling with a car in the group. I think mid sized SUV owners with similar (ie. solid rear and independent front) suspensions, are probably pretty silly to talk smack to one another. I'm sure it comes down to individual build quality, which leaves me pretty confident I won't come across too many "4Runner" crushing pathfinders on the trail. lionbull Posted February 17, 2012 Report Share Posted February 17, 2012 (edited) Chip, I actually was interested in the 4runner with the 3rd row seat as my first choice. I could not find any in decent condition for my standards as a DD. I won't settle for crap(cracked leather, smells, cracked interior bits etc.) at this stage in my life. I visited a dealership in New jersey but the guy had sold the 4runner i wanted the night before. The one left did not have the 3rd row and it stunk of dog, though the scent was covered up with freshener and the seats were discolored as well. I was dissappointed but noticed the pathfinder and asked for the keys. When I opened the door the interior had a fresh clean smell, nice charcoal interior, no cracks in the interior and everthing works. I could barely find a scratch on the body and the dark blue paint was shiny. I test drove it and the thing is faster than a speedingTBI quest. 270hp and 291ft/lb. the tranny sounds like a stick with a half second pause when you squeeze it but sounds regular otherwise, 5speed A/T. Was so good I test drove it twice. I could not leave without driving the 4runner and let me tell you that thing is even faster than the Pathfinder. I did not know because the others I drove the owner was in the vehicle so i did not want to push it. My first impression of it was it was slow since it was kinda sluggish on the bottom end. The one i drove out of the dealership I squeezed the crap out of it. I found out they are a little sluggish until...VVTI. That thing gets faster the more you push it 70, 80, 90 faster still, I had to let of for fear of incarceration. The Pathfinder kind of wanes off a little at 80-85mph(still fast but not as responsive as the Toyota at that velocity) when the toyota is fully awakened. It was the v6 one.
