GM Trailblazer knock sensor. Booyah! it has an M8x1.25 bolt, so you get a helicoil for that size, and it threads right into the stock knock sensor hole which is M10x1.25, no need for an expensive "special tap." I got conned into buying one (kidding) only to find out it was the exact same pitch and size as the stock hole, so back to Ace hardware I go to return it (24-25 bucks  ). Then you just snip the tip of the bolt and it goes right in. Voila, a brand new knock sensor from www.gmpartsdirect.com for 18 bucks not including shipping.

Here's the passenger side, and all that's really left is to install the intake manifold and replace the valve stem seals that are broken (they broke from the lash adjusters being too tight, which also probably had something to do with the detonation which broke the hyperU engine in the first place, holy crap I'm an idiot for not checking the lash).

And here's the back side of the engine, I don't know why, but I felt like showing this off, mainly I think it's cause I love the new drainback setup.

How about "R04 red" haha. Chrome, black, and grey/pewter/cast iron mix well together. I was originally going to paint my block grabber green, but I don't have enough balls to do that on this car. Maybe the next one, I'll do the whole car in grabber green.

Hows the knock sensor going to be monitored? Whats it gonna be hooked up to?

My AEM EMS. But I imagine this sensor could work with the stock ecu since it's for an engine with a very similar bore size. It might be more sensitive than a stocker, that's what my hope is.

I have no idea what it can make once finished. Anyone care to guess? Mine is 350whp and somewhere between 350 and 400 torque.

I'll go with something similar for HP but probably in the 425-450 TQ range.

Exactly, but a big part of the fun of doing this type of thing is explaining it to the parts counter guy or the guy at the hardware store.

I tell them, "This is from "x" vehicle. I'm going to make it work in "y" vehicle. Here's the issue." And that's usually enough. Sometimes there is the persistant idiot who tries to tell you that what you just did isn't possible and that infact you don't need the part you're asking for, you need this oem replacement part. I get really annoyed at those people.
