Dad
Ok, I had purchased what was supposed to be a 3" GM mass air flow . I picked up a 3" intake filter and it won't fit??? I measured the GM mass OD and it's 3.250 Diameter.??????? Am i missing something here ?? I thought thay only made the 3" and 3.5" It has crayon markings Venture 99 3400 so I assume it's off a 99 Venture van 3.4 engine? jisleyjr
I recall having a bear of a time getting the filter and coupler on my 3" GM MAF. I remember someone joking about how they should have ordered a 3.25 filter instead.

Car6on14
my 3" GM MAF measured the same, i have my filter on 3 inch tubing so i was ok but I was thinking they should note the OD
Dad
LOL This all figures, ok so I need to go 3" tubing on the filter- coupled to 3.25 on mass then 3.25 from mass down to 2.5 on the turbo inlet?? Geez, Ujoints first and now this. Dad
DEVILStarion
i already have a gm mas and filter. same here, i had a tough time too. lots of lithium white grease. this would be my future upgrade. right now i'm still using a 1st gen eclipse mas and a cosmo filter. i hope it works out well for you and feedbacks would be helpful to us too. good luck! JAinsworth
The 3" indicates the area open for airflow aka the ID. If you look at ordering t-bar clamps from Summit, they warn you about ID vs OD. Same would apply for couplers. Jimmy

Dad 3"i.d to 3" i.d hose coupler from the air filter to the GM maf. or if the air filter has a rubber collar, just fit it onto the GM maf. 3" i.d to 3"i.d hose coupler from the GM maf to the Hardpipe. 3" i.d. to 2.25 "i.d hose coupler from the Hardpipe to the Turbo inlet. Caliber308
3.25 to 3 on the maf/ahp right? If your asking me, 3" i.d. to 3" i.d. Hose coupler will work from the GM MAF to the Hardpipe. It's a bit of work to get the hose coupler on the GM MAF, but it will work. Vaseline, White grease or any other type of lubricant will work. And it's "AIR TIGHT" for sure after installing the T-Bolt clamp. CALIBER 308 Edited July 16, 2008 by Caliber308
