Komeuppance Posted July 25, 2011 Report Share Posted July 25, 2011 I pulled up to a stop sign in a residential area, waited for cross traffic to clear (just one car). A guy on a mountain bike was going with cross traffic away from me. He was staring at my car and wasn't looking where he was going. Suddenly the bike stops and he flys over the handle bars. He must have hit a grate or locked up the front brakes. Haha... I think he was ok because he wasn't going fast at all. Did I stop, nah I just drove by, kept on pursing to the next stop. I've flown over the handle bars on my bike a couple times at higher speeds, so I know what it's like LOL. If it was bad, I'd have stopped for sure. But I didn't want to "add insult to injury". I stop to help people in need all the time. I drove by there again later that day, there wasn't anything that would have stopped him. I think he just panicked and hit the front brake. There wasn't any blood or chalk outline at the spot either. This was in a residential neighborhood and there were plenty of people around, including others on bikes who were looking where they were going. Reminds me of another time I was coming off the freeway on an off ramp, 60 MPH interstate, to a 50mph highway. For some reason there was a guy walking on the shoulder, who I didn't see until the exit of the corner. I shifted up and the BOV went off, wasn't even going fast, and the guy's head whipped around so fast because he was startled (I didn't do it on purpose, didn't even know he was there). His long dread locks were flying around, like you were spinning a mop, when his head turned around just enough to see out of his purifferals. I apologize for being wrong. I just can't see making fun of someone that may have gotten injured, Then joking about it when you really don't know if he was injured. And as for Unjustified expectations... I would think as an admin you should be held to higher standards. Your comment about not being present to witness you are correct, But I went by your title.... and the title says " Injured a bicyclist with My car" Did I stop.... no.
