  1. Anyone have any first hand experience with Iridium spark plugs on the 2.6?
  2. Unfortunately its a bit more complicated then that, The stock TB is made to give a good and even flow of air and mix the fuel from the injectors, Oversizing the TB is good but your not really able to get that much larger. And using a new tb makes it hard to get the injector mixer on the tb and make the air flow as it should. I have been working on doing this but will have to wait till weather improves before I can finish the project. But really a big big problem with the stock setup is the ECU is quite poor. MPI is really the way to go.
  3. Another interesting thing to think about, The stock intake has almost twice the flow of the stock Throttle body. (the TB size is about the same size as one of the 2 runners that all the air go thought)
  4. This is more a proof of concept ten a finished product, If this works well I definetly may take you up on that offer! If it doesnt work well Ill just put a stock setup on it, Its just a montero dont really need all that much power even a stock turbo 2.6 makes like 30hp and 60tq more then the stock 3.0 v6 it had in it. I actualy have a MPI magna intake I am not using, but I want to see how this idea works out. My idea is 4 inj about = to primary conquest tbi injector, wired in a way to give about the same resistance to the stock ecu, and could be alot of ways to try like use a 550cc and the 4 injectors in the intake for the secondary. My idea tho is to improve the low end response and power without hurting (actualy helping) the top end. If these 4 injectors dont match the one primary injector I can add a smaller sized injector i the Primary stock injector Location, or If the 4 in the runners works well for the primary I could run 2 550cc in the stock location and use them both for the secondary (idea is to reduce fuel drops). If this works great I will mod another intake like this but with Welding an no JB weld and send it off to have it done right. But I belive jb weld is acquitted to see if the idea will work.(I Will have fire extinguisher in the vehicle!).
  5. No I didn't pay anything for this. The injectors will have steel brackets that go over the injector fuel inlet and extend with long bolts to hold to to the intake. JB weld is used to seal the gap the TB bolts to 2 of the stock TB bolts and I will probably drill and tap the other 2 bolts but haven't got that far yet. The intake will be used on a montero where the low rpm power is apriciated. But the intake has the egr area opened up to give about twice the plenum area under the TB, plus a TB that is about 80%larger than stock. The 2 runners are pretty much double the size of the stock TB. So basically should increase flow about 70 to 50% over the stock intake.
  6. Plan is tap hose barbs into the fuel rail I have and rubber hoses going to the injectors.
  7. Here are a few pics of some stuff I am working on. 62mm TB 4 injectors equaling about 500cc http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q714/Luke_Tainter/IMG_20140129_180640_zpspvqjmvgh.jpg http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q714/Luke_Tainter/IMG_20140129_180650_zpsjfenqpeo.jpg http://i1355.photobucket.com/albums/q714/Luke_Tainter/IMG_20140129_180715_zpsanp4xzuh.jpg
  8. Apart from the feel of closing the Gull wing around you when you close the door mostly the Interior on the Starion is more cool, Dash looks better, insterments look cooler, fan and heater contorls look alot cooler, the seats are not very adjustable but have a bigger version of the 87 style seats, The leg room is one big advantage over the Starion with the seats all the way back I can almost not push the clutch in (im about 6ft) The steering wheel is feels like its made from the same factory as the starion one lol kinda 87 style shape with 88-89 finishing wraped leather. The side windows are tearible small and you dont have much visibility in the back or side. In other words the starion other then the door is more cool interior wise!
  9. A while back I got some specs on the cam from the magna and it was basicly same specs as the stock slip rocker (when using the rollers) Maybe slightly better then stock because or rollers but no gain in duration or lift
  10. I know alot of people in japan that drift will have a switch to turn all their fans on full when they are drifting partially because when the car is sideways you dont get a good air flow into the front air inlet.
  11. Wow great Idea Attach a Lawn Mower Blade to the bottom and call it the lawn mower!
  12. I heard crayon dynos read 10hp more then sharpie dynos.
  13. The local drag way has a section just for the retired motorbike riders to watch... Handicapped section

  15. welcome to the world of Starquests! Interested in endurance road racing volvos? sounds cool! I have a 850 turbo, dont race it tho lol.
  16. Yea I have a LED that looks Exactly like a Old light would be hard for you to tell the difference in color of light. but it uses 10watts for like 65watt equv.
  17. As far as shop style lighting LED is not quite their, but as far as house lights its deff better. They are constantly upgrading if you find a older led its alot worst then the new ones. Mostly a LED will be about half the electric up to 100w equivalent. Past that not so good yet for LED. The LED is instant full brightness, and the durability and life is a lot better for LED. CFL always said they have a longer life then the old lights but in practice almost always the CFL will burn out first :|
  18. I have a Race done SS OS vavles, M8 head on my starion (MPI), and its been one of the better mods I have done, The higher compression is very nice! It made my 60-1 spool like a 12a on MPI. To bad Clear water wouldnt just make all their heads like the M8!
  19. Just forget about HP Its kinda overrated its all about TQ curve Idealy you want alot of tq everywhere! If you can make 300tq from 2k to 6k that is better then making 300tq from 6k to 7k but almost none below 5k. More TQ at higher rpm the better if you dont loose at the mid or bottom end. Basicly you want the TQ to start as low as you can without dropping off at the top end. Its all about the average tq avalible as the RPMS you want to use. Its great to have low end TQ but still have your peak TQ above 5252. That is my goel! Flat TQ starting low rpm and peak above 5252. But like patra said HP is directly related to TQ. Personally I think the Magan is not the best but its also pretty decent for the 2.6. Could use a larger plenum and larger ports, should note depending how the intake id modded for RWD how large the Plenum is. My one intake had a large flang and probably adds like 10% more volume for the plenum as my other magna intake. Like Jsz is saying I would go with a intake that is custom once you have gone with a high flow head, Magna with high ports and no groove on the intake service for Jet valve air passages You can port the head out to have a good deal larger ports and actually decent amount larger then the magna intake could be ported. (I have this head but just port matched not the best but It will do for now).
  20. I would guess they go a bit over rich to help it run more cool at idle.
  21. Well I did run that but I also ran a 60 trim with stage 5 exhaust for a while, don't remember what setup I had when I tested it. (Later i combined the 60-1 hifi intake side with the stage 5 exhaust side, and that's what I run now)
  22. Just trying to make a point you have flawed logic. The turbo will heat up the air a % over the inlet temp so doesn't matter (well it does somewhat) if its 100 or 0 out the turbo will heat it and the ic will drop around the same amount. As for stock TBI I deff dont think a ic should be the first upgrade, everything has to flow good one things wont do much. But I think its only logical that people that would care about the efficenfy of the stock IC already have most of the upgrade your posted (and I agree should do most of thoes before doing the IC). It does matter what size your ic is. unless your in like northern canada and its always cold then no real need, but even then colder air will be more dense.
  23. So because its warm out you dont want to bother with a larger IC???? Interesting..... Maybe just go without a IC if its over 100 out!! then dont have to worry about spool or flow restriction
  24. Very nice Like the idea, the stock WG doesnt have alot of movement and is pretty easy pull on so either using a new wg, or adding sprigns and allowing the full movment of the wg is great idea. altho external would be even better!
  25. Ahh good point. but im sure the 2.5psi at the tb must mean its too small. I cant remember when we tested my conquest if it was with the stock IC or with my big one. But it does help explain my great results at lower boost then most, since i have a larger IC then most. Curious now for what the pressure drop on a non IC car is from turbo to OVCP. The efficany of the turbo is based on the difference from the inlet to the outlet. Not the pressure at the intake.
