101PROPOSE
hi members, i have been talking to a few wheel/rim manufactures and got some infos about developing modified stock replica starquest wheels in 18" or 19" they all said it is possible but a new mold is required and it involves $$$$$. according to them, one mold is good for one size wheel with different offsets.for example,18x8 with 0mm offset or 18x8 with 12mm offset. but two different molds are required for two different size wheels.for example,18x8 with 12mm offset and 18x9 with 0mm offset. i know stock wheels are different sizes. narrow front and wider rear. is this necessary? to have different size wheels for the front and rear? maybe wider tires and correct offsets for the rear wheels work? any ideas? thanks,101 http://www.mookeeh.com/starquest/star-wheel1.jpg http://www.mookeeh.com/starquest/star-wheel3.jpg http://www.mookeeh.com/starquest/star-wheel4.jpg some wheels made by the manufacture(i know second one is fugly ), http://www.mookeeh.com/starquest/mk1-w-1.jpg http://www.mookeeh.com/starquest/mk1-w-2.jpg http://www.mookeeh.com/starquest/mk1-w-3.jpg
vmstsi
i like that first one. they look like pretty good quality wheels. you might be able to get away with the lower offset but just provide a spacer. not sure how big of a spacer or whatever is needed but i know people have used them before. Xtreme Industries
i personnally would prefer 8" wide in front and 10" wide in rear with corect offsets so no spacers would be required. in a 17" (prefered)or 18" would be good. 19" i think is a little large for this car. what kind of prices are you looking at? Mech
18's with different offsets and i would def be interested.

101PROPOSE
lightweight would be great!!!!! i was thinking about ordering chrome wheels which are alot heavier than stock wheels. do you prefer lighter weight aluminum wheels?

101PROPOSE
18's with different offsets and i would def be interested. Mech, so you are okay with 18x8 for both the front and the rear with correct offsets?
MontyTSI
8 is to narrow for the rear wheels come up with some real world pricing estimates (ball park) nothing has to be concrete but a cost difference will either confirm interest or deny it for some folks. i love the looks of those drawings!! and something i would be interested in at 18x8 in the front and 18x9 or 10 in the rear follow up question/comment... is a 9 inch wheel to big for the front? If it clears the strut rod etc.. i see no problem with 9 front and rear with split offsets.

101PROPOSE
here is rough estimate. i need 50 set min. orders $250.00 per wheel with same widths for the front & rear, 18x8 or 18x9. $300.00 per wheel with different widths for the front &rear, 18x8 front and 18x9 rear. what do think?
Technology
For 300 bucks a wheel I'll get some used Work rims from rbmotoring.
MontyTSI
i could do the 300 a wheel, but 50 sets may be difficult. maybe start a deposit over time program/ 4-6 month deadline time frame... i think that would be the best way to get the orders necessary. ptracy26
I would be interested though only offsett rims - 8w's front - 9-10w rear
jisleyjr
What is the time frame here? with-in a year? 1200 wouldn't be a problem given some time.

What is the time frame here? with-in a year? 1200 wouldn't be a problem given some time. i know gathering 50 orders is hard but i am planning to leave this "possible" GP open for long time without a set deadline for now. how much deposit should i ask for? i think some members will be skeptical about this and it will be very difficult to ask for high amount deposit. how about 3 small deposits as this order progresses? first initial deposit will be due when members sign up for an order. after i get all 50 deposits, i will have the manufacture start working on the order. second deposit will be due after i provide members with pictures of 3D cad drawings, mold made for this order and other progressed order status. third deposit will be due after i get finished sample/prototype wheels from the manufacutre. i am not even sure if this is happening or not but... what do you members think? any other ideas? let me know,

If the quality is there, I'd pay, but 50 people is going to be impossible on these boards, though you may sell them on ebay much faster. I'd go with a big polished lip and offer black, silver, bronze, maybe gunmetal grey. I'm not into chrome.
Mech
If they could be had for a grand shipped then I would do it. I agree with Monty. Offset. 8 in the front, 9 in the rear. And i dont like chrome either.
JustPaus_88TSi
Monty, 9's fit the fronts, and 11-12's fit the rears if you know what you're doing. How many of you have actually seen 19's on a SQ in person? From what I know, there's about 4 people in the US including me who run 19's, 1 guy in Australia and 2 guys in Japan. They're perfect IMHO. Check the sig. 19x8.5(+15mm) and 19x10.5(-3mm).. 235/35/19 and 275/30/19.. I have a pinky tip worth of gap in the front and i'm tucking tire in the rear. ekstatixx
i think the prices seem fair. but even if this was left open for a long time, there would never be 50 sold. i would guess more like 8 sets would sell. i would be into a 18X8 and 18X10

Chad
18x9 in the front and 18x11 fit in the rear will fit just fine, but the offsets have to be just right, and the steering stops *may need adjustment in the front. I instaleld a custom set on a custmers car and they rubbed a little on full lock left turns, it was a small adjustment. 18's are heavy, and 19's are even more, it does change the handeling of the car, pretty noticalby if you are sensitive to these things. I would prefer 17's but would settle on 18's, definatly not 19's. 8's and 9's would be a good choice for reduced weight, but 9's and 10's would be nice too. geting 11" tires in the back looks wrong though, the 275 was the widest tire we cold get in there before it rubbed the fender lip, it "looked" like the rim was too wide. You can get the same rubber to fit a 10", and it would look better and be lighter. FYI, these were cusotm made rims, and cost just over $500 ea. they were true ROH 3 piece though. $300 is not bad for custom 1 piece. Also, I like the tire selecion of the 17's vs, 18's and 18's are easier than 19's. they must be staggered for me to buy (and I would at this pricing).
