  2. I want to get it running and just have a fun weekend car. I want to restore it to original color. The paint is a little faded. It's in storage right now and I gotta get a trailer to get it. Once I do I'll definitely post pictures. The last I remembered the interior was pretty good for an over 30 year old car. I want to do minor mods to it, but you know how that goes,.once you start it's hard to stop. Last I check it runs but would die once you step on the gas and the frame has some rust on it being in Indiana. The big thing is finishing what my dad started and just remembering the good times. He was a Mopar guy and we started with a 75 dart him and I. This was another gem for him to try redoing. Shoot the man loved this era. He drove an 87 ram/raider truck. Thanks for.any help y'all can give

  5. Hi there, and welcome to the group! Very cool that you have gotten your hands on one, they are awesome cars and becoming rarer as time goes on, but this is a great group of individuals to help you in your journey! I run one of the main OEM parts website at www.starquestparts.net, and there are some other resources on the bottom of my homepage with links to other providers as well like MKS motorsports, DAD’s, Motocam etc. I also welcome phone calls, and or texts with any questions on things that I can help with that I’m knowledgeable about, and you can also post here and you will get some great advice from you guys have been in the game for decades. Best of luck with getting her fixed up! -Steve

  7. Hi Guys, I just picked up a 88 Starion 60k miles, red, non running supposedly due to bad fuel pump. Will be going through entire fuel system and replacing parts from MKS. Assuming things go good with repairs I'll be looking to imprive performance from all around. Excited to get it this week and start working on it. Thanks. Ian from Denver

  9. No worries, Gibbon. One of my first posts was to ask what the best engine swap would be. They were chasing me out of town with pitchforks and torches! 😄 I think/hope that they've forgiven me.

  10. sorry I obviously barely even read the original post (no lights, wouldnt turn over etc!). just saw that the car died while turning and that reminded me of the issue we had which was a real head scratcher at the time please remember that even my dumb posts help keep the forums ticking over!

  11. had this in an e110 corolla, the fuel pickup had broken off. Ran fine til the tank got down to about a quarter, then started dying when turning in one direction and the fuel sloshed away from the remnants of the pickup

  13. Usually when a vehicle dies only when turning in one direction it is a grounding issue. I would start with the ignition switch and work your way down.

  16. After what has felt 6 very long years, I'm finally ready to unveil this car, and just in time for my own car show this weekend. This project was supposed to just be a simple pull the motor from my Conquest and drop it in the Starion and then have the car repainted in the original white ... but then the tree crushed it and it turned into a much much larger undertaking. But I couldn't be happier with the results and everything I've learned along the way and all the help from many individuals in this community who came through with parts and/or advice and help. A few weeks back, curiosity got the better of me and I had to know whether or not everything was solid, and I actually took the car for a mini-test drive in my neighborhood. My wife recorded a video of that: YOU TUBE VIDEO RAOD TEST Because I had taken this car for a little neighborhood test spin already, and the fact that I pulled this motor from my Conquest, which I was actively driving at the time, I was pretty confident that I could take the car out on the road - so I drove to the gas station and filled her up. Not the most glorious first drive, but it worked and the gas station was only right around the corner.

  17. Thanks! Painting enhances my anxiety haha. I just don't enjoy it. Love the cutting/welding, putty work is bearable, but painting sucks. The paint is so expensive, and spraying is dependent on so many factors....one of which is my own lack of experience because I only paint cars, or exterior panels of cars, once in like every 10 years. I also broke the cardinal rule...painting the in the winter. But if it wasn't for my experimenting with my gun settings, I really believe it would have gone flawlessly. Got the car back together this past weekend and took it out for a drive. Unfortunately, when putting the wheels back on, I saw that one of my axle boots is ripped. So won't be driving it much until I address that. Still need to paint the c-pillars and rear louvers and get back on refinishing my spare set of wheels. The passenger door in this photo is original paint. The front half of the fender is in base coat but the full fender cleared. I'm very happy in how the paint matched, especially using PPG shopline base which isn't known for matching original paint well.
