did you feed it sterioids??

no, I did give it a 3 inch lift with OME springs and struts and 285/70R17 Cooper Discoverer STTs though, which make it sit about an inch higher. I'm going to do one more inch on the suspension and 1.25in on the body and call it done. until I supercharge it that is. I found the TRD supercharger for it used but I'm torn about voiding my warranty. supposedly this TRD SC adds like 120hp and 80ft/lbs. That's way more than a normal TRC blower. I think that's why they stopped making them at toyota. guys were bending rods and stuff. If you buy the thing at the dealer and have them install it they stick to the factory warranty. Must have been getting expensive

Nice pick on the tires Chip...Those STT's grip well and last quite a while. For sticking with the factory wheels..You've got the best looking 4runner I've seen. Looks Sweet man. Nice bulldog stanse......not to high or wide...just right. :)

thanks man, I'll get another picture from the front some time that really shows the proportion, or the "bulldog" stance as you put it. I like that way of describing it. That's kinda' what I was looking for without ever using that word. I think the 1.25" wheel spacers I used made a big difference. I would have changed wheels but toyota wheels are hub-centric. Most aftermarket wheels are lug-centric, meaning they center themselves as you tighten the lugs. That works I guess but it isn't quite perfect. I got the tires road force balanced and they ride just like stock. anyway, thanks again

I'll post some pics of my old Toyota....I loved it. It had a really mean stance but was still very dd. Thats what is good about yours. Its still very dd friendly, But will go pretty damn much wherever you want to take it. I wouldnt do the super charger. They are supposed to sell Turbo kits that don't void the factory warranty....Have you seen them?

edit: I could Only find them for the older ones...and new tacomas...not 4runners....Would be cool though.

The 4Runner is still getting bigger. I haven't gotten the supercharger on yet but I got a good deal on a set of 5 35x12.5x17 Toyo Open Country MTs so I decided to upgrade from the cooper 33 inch skinnies. Of course this will require a re-gear to 4.56s from the stock 3.73s and if I'm smart I'll do a big brake upgrade so I don't rear end someone. The truck is getting "Heavy". These Toyo's are 100lbs each mounted up and the budbuilt skids I just installed added nearly 200lbs.

Still lookin good Chip...Not a fan of the rack...but it still looks good....

Thanks, and I'm not a huge fan of them either which is why I went for one that comes off. Some of them require you to remove your factory luggage rack and bolt the new one down.

You don't need that big of a jump in gear do you?...Thats a pretty stout jump for 2in of tire.

I hadn't geared for the 33s though and stock size is 31, so it's actually 4 inches of tire over stock, unless you meant a two inch increase in 'radius'. That's accurate, and that's actually all that matters so I suppose that is what you mean. The gear change required to get the exact percentage change in O.D. would be 4.22s, according to my math, but I wasn't sure if that was the "percentage change" I needed to be comparing to or if it was the percentage change in radius. Either way, 4.56s are kinda' the general consensus among 4Runner guys. I want it a little lower than stock for wheeling. Hell some guys go to 5.29s. I figure 4.56s allow for future expansion when the 35s start to feel small and I need to lift it 4 more inches and put 37s on there, plus it'll be tons o'fun with the supercharger.

Yeah...I guess your right....I was thinking like 4.10's but the 4.56 would be better for your climbing. I wouldn't go any bigger than 35's...When you go to upgrade I would just go to a 13.50 or even a 14.50....I can't believe those are 12.50'.s....they look pretty thin......but most of the meaty looking 12.50's dont ride worth a crap either...I ran the BFG muds....liked them alot...

Supercharger will be baddasss chip

I know all about the lightforce lights and I love them. I'm having a custom light bar made that will mount in front of the rack and attach both to the rack and to the roof so they're as stable as possible. My plan was to get two large lights for the front, something like the lightforce stuff, and then get two more of the jaos lights so I would have 4 total to put on the roof. I do like the lightforce lights a lot though. We'll see.

These look thin because they're 35s. Their width to height proportion is roughly the same as the 285/70 coopers I just took off, and they were skinny. Toyo Open country MTs are about as "meaty" as it gets. Actual measured width is 12.9 and the side lugs are all kinds o'gnarly. I agree though that 33x12.5 looks good, but any taller than that and you really need 13.5 or 14.5s to make the proportion look as awesome as possible. The added "awesomeness" unfortunately just isn't sufficient to justify the mega modification it would take to safely run a tire that wide on my truck.

Wow that thing is looking good chip. You mentioned a body lift, those things actually have a frame? You also said driving around DC, are you heading back to the east coast?

Nothing like answering a year late, but yeah, 4Runners are body on frame constructed just like tacomas and tundras. It's essentially a tacoma with an SUV body. What's funny is that people buying them for normal use complain about the solid rear axle and "lack" of unibody. Ridiculous.

Added some HID's to the roof, bud built skids, Icon upper control arms, King racing suspension, rock rails (not in this first pic), ARB air locker and 4.56 gears, but other than that my DD is unchanged and I still love it.

Man that's a nice 4runner. How harsh is the ride after the lift and the mud grips?

The ride is plush man. It was nice with the Icon coilovers I had before, but they weren't reservoir shocks. The resi setup from King is just amazing. Washboard dirt roads feel practically like smooth pavement. On road my wife is always commenting about how well the truck handles and how it feels over bumps. It just soaks them up with little to no body movement. If you're in the market I highly recommend Kings.

The Toyos are noticably loud compared to a dedicated on road tire, but that's to be expected. On a recent wheeling trip a guy got in my rig because he was tired of getting his teeth rattled in a jeep. He said it rode like a Cadillac by comparison, and this was through last chance canyon.
