Banky
I ordered the 83 valves..Now in the past I have had major problems trying to buy parts from the dealer.. Has anyone ordered the retainer keepers for the 83 valves yet? Will I have to jump through hoops for Mitsu. to order them for me? Anyone have a part number or price? Rusky
Damn! Just put mine away. Took about a week to get it in at the dealer. Tim C. has the part #s you need. My invoice is at the mom's right now along with all my other parts.

Richie_Rich
Sorry, I didn't post this earlier. I mis-placed the paper. I haven't checked these numbers, but I got them from West Broad Mitsubishi the other day. '83 Retainers pn MD008761 $2.10 ea '83 Keepers pn MD008760 $1.42 ea West Braod Mitsubishi 1-800-229-1001 If you tell them you are part of 3SI.org they will give you free shipping. 3SI.org is a 3000GT website and club. You can check prices and order online by going to www.westbroadmitsubishi.com This is where I bought the roller rockers and new lifters. 1.6:1 Roller rocker arms pn MD195450 $16.80 ea Hydraulic Lifter pn MD377561 $15.34 ea Rich

Banky
Ok guys..I can do simple bolt on and bolt off stuff..But engine internals are out of my league..SO.. Please excuse me if I sound ignorant.. But how many retainers/keepers/roller rocker arms/lifters do I need to order? Sorry for the dumb question, but obviously I wont be doing my engine work. Richie_Rich
No question is a dumb question unless you are expected to already know the answer. Since there are 4 cylinders with two valves each: If you are going with the roller rockers, you will need 8 pcs. You will need 8 retainers and 16 keepers(8 sets). You need to check on how the keepers are sold. I didn't think to ask when I called on the pn's. I am thinking they should be sold in pairs, but check first. You will need 8 lifters. So, that's pretty much 8 of everything. Rich
GoldNBlack
Rich, What is the status on our valves? Can we expect them soon? My best rebuild oppertunity comes in about 2 weeks so I'm trying to finish gathering the parts. Thanks Steve
Richie_Rich
I do have the one set of the '83's they had in stock. I am holding on to them in case someone couldn't wait any longer. Marnal says they expect the rest of the valves next week. If someone can't waitany longer, post it here and I'll send them to you. I also have two extra sets of the hydraulic length, if someone wants those. I'm sorry for the delay. Rich

Banky
Ok..Ive run into a slight problem..I called to order the retainers and keepers for the 83 valves today..And west broad said theyre discontinued. Now what? Can I get them anywhere else?
Richie_Rich
Marnal is still checking on when they will receive the valves. I'll ask tham if they can get retainers and keepers too. Maybe this is a blessing that Marnal still hasn't gotten their shippment in. I hope not though. Rich

Richie_Rich
I went online at Napa. The number they list for the '83 is Clevite CEP 2165223 for the keeper(Valve lock) Carparts.com lists the same number for the '83 as the '88, so I think they don't have the correct part. I am going to call my machinist friend tonight and see what sources he has. If someone else has a verified source for the correct keeper and retainers, for the '83, please post it along with part numbers. Marnal still doesn't know exactly when they will get their valve shipment in. Rich
kev
What is the latest on the shipment of the valves? kev
Richie_Rich
Marnal is checking now why they haven't received the valves yet. They have received a bunch of the '83 intakes, but not the exhausts. I expect to hear from them today or Monday. I've expressed my concern that this is taking too long. I will post Monday what the latest is. I am sorry for this delay. I wish I could do something to help this along. How many people will need a source for the retainers and keepers? I have my machinist looking into this and he thinks he will be able to get them from his suppliers. Rich
KimoYogi
Rich, I need 16 ea. retainers and keeper sets, put me down for this if you can make it happen for the two sets of 83 valves ordered from ya, still not in an earthshaking need for either the valves, retainers or keepers at this moment, but it getting closer to needing them for ongoing projects in work........ I checked online with West Broad Mitsubishi in Virginia and it appeared they had them but did not talk with directly someone concerning avalibility..... Thanks KimoYogi
Banky
Sorry Kimo..they may list them as in stock..but there anre none left in the entire country..They told me there were 0 keepers, and 10 retainers left int he country..but we need 16 so 10 is useless. Let me know if you find a supplier.
