conquestTSIguy
Just curious as to if I can use the base gasket that doesn't have the pre-applied sealant or the 3 port holes. I think I remember someone saying that you can't use those, but I just wanted to double check. Any help is greatly appreciated and thanks in advance. techboy
I think you can, but guys go with the pre-applied sealant one just b/c it is a better gasket.
importwarrior
Used them both and yes I like the sealant one beter.Butgood clean flat surfaces are most important proper equal torque on the gaskets makes a big difference.
conquestTSIguy
What sealant do you use on the one with no holes or sealant? just a fuel resistant sealant?

conquestTSIguy
The only reason I ask is because I have two base gaskets that are the same. Wasn't as concerned about the pre applied sealant as I was about the absence of the three holes for the vacuum ports.
importwarrior
exacto can easily fix the absent holes if need be.
techboy
Yeah, you need the holes. Car won't run right without the proper vacuum movement.
ucw458
I prefer to use black rtv on gaskets. Works well and gives a cleaner look than other colors.
Dad
Pretty sure that the gasket holes are supposed to be covered. I don't recall seeing one where they are open Dad
