mistapickles Posted January 17, 2013 Author Report Share Posted January 17, 2013 It's the lower radiator support for a Ram 1500, got it from a wrecker for $15. I noticed a difference in handling immediately. Those strut towers flex big, I made the piece with the car on the ground then decided to weld it in with the car jacked up under the diff. The whole thing moved down a 1/4 inch, so I welded it with no weight and it feels taught. @Tech, I'm trying to get it lower, it's just that I have to find a way to keep the control arms from swinging down when I go over bumps. I cut the center metal supports down and raised the radio up. I made the wires super long... I'm not sure whether the radio is going to stay there, go into the glove box or into a custom arm rest I'm making. If the radio does go, I'm going to make the bracket even smaller and put gauges in there. I haven't been a fan of pillar gauges and right there would be functional.
