Going wider...

Sorry for the thread jack, but now that I think about it, maybe even a new header panel, hood and light combo that keeps all the lines on the front horizontal. I find the shape of the lights breaks up the flow of the front end.

Lance_S, It was me who mentioned the weight of the light motors etc in chat and it was actually 10 lbs. But that weight is with all of the extra hardware removed, not just the motors. Just thought I would clarify :)

And this is a great build going on here. Keep up the great work, I really like a lot of the custom stuff you've done to your car.

thanks man. I didnt get too much done after saturday, still need to finish welding the driver side, and get into the lower area. Not 100% sure on how I'm going to do it yet, didnt want the fender to go all the way down, like my rendering I wanted it to end a little higher, like some jgtc cars. Looking for ideas here if anyone has some photo reference... Not this high, but you see what I mean.

Vette,

I like the orange car in the second picture. I comes out a little wider at the tire but then pulls back in a little toward the door. The transition from the fender to the door isn't quite so much. You still notice the step but it's not the only thing you notice, if you know what I mean. It doesn't take over the line of the car.

Just a couple cents worth.

I was also thinking today about maybe doing a one piece up front and hinge it in the middle where the stock hood latch is. Then the front fenders and the hood could be one piece. Save weight and cost, 1 piece vs. three. Just a thought.

I'm kinda liking this...

I like that it keeps body color in the "open" area, but it just keeps it back at the stock location (maybe flat in like a flatty, to exaggerate the width more) with an additional carbon trim piece out wide.

Found another view of similar on a different EVO

I like the high fender line of that s2k widebody. In fact, I swore to myself if I ever happen to own an s2000, it must have that particular widebody on it for an aggressive track look. I vote mimic the s2k fender but with quest lines.

Yes a set of flatty fenders would help a lot in that area, I wish I had a set....

Have not been on in a while. Is this why I got a paint related txt? Cool man, but I want the wheels to fit.

Heres a pic with a rear 8 on there, its really not bad, (my car is a little wider) But still it wouldnt be too bad.

Here are a few examples too

f--- - me. Thats awesome. I will most likely put some sort of fins inside to help support the vent, I do like that a lot. I will update with some more photoshop pics soon. I;ve been too busy lately to get anything done on it.

ok im not usaully a fan of body mods to our cars, but that is pretty sweet , very aggressive looking , and just looks and goes so well with the car , theres so many cars out there with wide body kits to me that look like trash and dont fit the car, if the molds and such go through id just build me another car to put these on lol :P

Sorry guys not much progress latley, its cold out and I've been working too much.. I made a cardboard pattern of the lower area, turned around to grab something, my dog stole it, and tore it to sheds..lol hopefully after the holidays I can make some progress.

Stay tuned.

Also if anyone has a set of flatty fenders they want to donate, that would great. I think it'll be easier using part of them as Derek suggested.. Pm me

Derek you got a pic? Im sure I can rebuild the bottom, but mainly I need the flat part like at the center of the door. I would only need about 10 inches of the fender... Would def be easier to ship... Are you going back to ohio for x mas? I'll be going through there on friday... Edited by Convette

Love what you are doing to the car. Althought the factory fender and quarter flares are sweeeet, I would have to agree that they could have been wider. The car my son and I are going to be building starting in January for road racing will have basically the same idea; widened fenders and quarters, but with a one-piece front end (non-hinged). and the rear will be almost the same as in the pics on page 2(i think it was page 2). When the holidays are over, be sure to post some more pics of the progress. Thanks for sharing.

I think it's pretty wide the way it is. There comes a point to where it starts to look goofy if it goes too wide, at least for street use. Right now he can run 265 on the front with that much flare. Couple inches in the rear and he will be at 295 give or take. That's prolly plenty for the size and weight of our cars. Especially his, which is stripped. I don't think it needs to be viper wide with 330's on the back, there is such a thing as too much rubber.
