Do You Have Any Pictures Of You And Your First Car?

Recommended Posts

Here is one of me and my first car, taken in June 1964 a week before I joined the Navy.

http://i1032.photobucket.com/albums/a409/Starionpilot/Ken%20In%20Yesteryear/kenjune1964jpeghires.jpg

1962 Chevy Impala, L84 327, bored 0.020" over, balanced & modified, pushing about 400 HP, ported double hump heads, modded 1964 Duntov FI system, with 1964 Corvette 375 HP cam, Hedman Hedders, 4-speed, Posi dif, Chevy cop rear springs. That's what was written on the back of the picture.

You can see the chrome Lakes Pipes (exhaust dumps) just peeking out under the bottom of the front fender, aft of the wheel, and of course the Baby Moon hub caps. You weren't "cool" in Chicago those days unless you had Baby Moon's on the front wheels and the rear wheels painted black.

I sure looked like an unhappy greaser back then.

For What It's Worth.

KEN

Edit - Another thing I just noticed, the "sucker 'em in" phony single small diameter tail pipe under the rear and the 283 emblem on the front fender just above the bumper to make the car look like a 2 barrel, 200 HP 283.

If I remember the 2 1/2 inch exhaust piping stopped just before the rear axles.

AAAAHHHH YES!!! The "tricks" of street racing in the old days.

Quite some time ago and bad picture (photo of a photo) But this is me with my first car in the staging lanes at the drag strip. LACR Los Angeles County Raceway.

A clever person will notice the license plate and learn something about me.

I will have to dig up my photos.

And I won't ruin it for everyone else, but that photo explains something that confused me for a while. Lol

Me and my 86 Tsi. I bought it in July 1995 just two months after I turned 16. Paid $1800 of my own $ for it, no parental help at all. That was all money that I earned working at a go-kart track and at Taco Bell (started working at 15). I was getting paid $4.25/hr at the track and $4.50/hr at Taco Bell. Minium wage was $4.25/hr back then.

Here's some old pictures of my very first car, my 1987 Chrysler Conquest TSi

This was from Carlisle 2003. This was the VERY FIRST SQC meet I have ever been to. I was blown away at seeing all the other SQ's in attendance. Before this, I had only ever seen one other Conquest in person, and it was a flatty. Which was what got me hooked into wanting one, to begin with. After researching the badge "Conquest" on the back of the maroon 1987 Chrysler Conquest LE I had found for sale locally, with red velour interior, I came across StarQuestClub.com. Two weeks after joining, this car was being delivered to my house via flatbed in the dead of winter. This picture was taken, exactly 1 week after I put the plates on it for the first time. It's maiden voyage, after the clutch blew up the very first time I drove it around the block, was a 6 hour drive from Buffalo, NY to Carlisle, PA.

This is me about a month later, getting ready to go to my Senior Prom, in 2003. In this picture, it had about 100,000 miles, and I was 17. May this car Rest in Peace...10/23/04

This picture was taken right around July-August 2004, after I had gotten back from my very first Pigeon Forge meet, where i bought my 83 Fiberglass hood from Kreal. Also pictured, is my brother's 1988 Chrysler Conquest TSi, which now belongs to me currently.

Here is a picture of my first car, a 1998 Crown Vic with 20,139 miles on it.

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa367/RevRock13/n1540892583_267100_4275130.jpg

And yes, It really only had that many miles on it. ^_^

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa367/RevRock13/n1540892583_267106_5958865.jpg

And a picture of me with it. B)

http://i1194.photobucket.com/albums/aa367/RevRock13/n1540892583_267101_2801084.jpg

2,000 miles later I hydroplaned and flipped the car, after nailing a tree. :(

Thinking it may finally be time for another, cause it was an awesome daily.

EDIT: This was back in 09. I just realized that I still have those sunglasses... they're on my head.

You will have to settle for pics with the first Starion, because all the others got burned up in the house fire we had several years ago.

Here's one from the track:

Thanks to the house fire, I suppose my life started in 2002.

Me and my 1980 El Camino SS. I picked it up on the way back from spring break with my family when I was 15 in '01. It was my daily through high school and first couple years of college driving it from Chicago to Detroit with a 3 speed and 350 4bbl. It has all the standard bolt-ons: mild cam, edlebrock intake, headman long tubes, 4 bbl, shift-kit etc. It's been dead nuts reliable all those years and I've put thousands of miles on it. I won't be one of those guys that will regret selling my first car, because it's still sitting in my driveway. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/public/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif

R.I.P. :(

Not that long ago while reading through the paper work that came with my starion I found out it was in a 13. roll over collision. I felt pretty bad, and I didn't even go through the wreck. Can't imagine.

I had owned 25 cars by the time I was 21. I'll have to find pics of the two I bought BEFORE I got my drivers license; a clean '57 Bel Air deluxe sedan and a '59 Caddy convertible. I was always on the lookout for cheap cars in highschool and college and made some $$ fixing them up and selling them. I learned to rebuild a quadrajet carb with the caddy. Drove a '56 Nash Statesman Super to my first year of college. Attracted WAY more attention than my Conquest does now. The headlights were in the grille so at night people thought it was a Jeep CJ coming down the road!

No picture here but it was a 1972 Monte Carlo. 350 , 10.1 compression, ported and polished heads, crower cam (dont remember the specs but she bumped) edlebrock torker II intake, holly 750, hooker headers. Turbo 350 with a shift kit and 3.90 gears. Made a believer out of a lot of kids in mustang with that ride. And like Dave I still own it, just needs lots of tlc.

well if i had a way to scan some pics i got one of the "first" car i own, it was an 85 s10 blazer. i had one other car before that but thinking back i dont think i ever legally own it cause the title was never in my name. it was a 79 pontiac phoenix, 4dr, 3.8L, auto, baby blue on baby blue. think i had it bout a month before i sold it to my gramps. ended up using some of the parts from it on an exgirls first car, and 86 olds cutlass surpreme.

I don't think I have a single picture of myself with my first car. Here she is nonetheless, '89 Fiji SHP, black leather, sunroof, 5 spd. Alongside her is my second car, '88 San Marino, black leather, 5 spd.

I can't find any pictures of my first car which was a restored 1978 Toyota Celica, back in 1996, pictures are somewhere around here. So here's a pic of my second car. My 1984 Chevy Z28. California Road Racing Kit, from kit car magazine. Rear qtrs were cut off and all the fiberglass goodies were added. Finished it off with Enkie 16 x 10's and 16 x 8's. I miss those wheels. One got curbed and trashed when my car rolled down my drive way and smashed into the trees across the street. Cool car. I drove the absolute piss outta that thing for about 5 years. Never had any problems out of it. Sold it for $1000 to the guy re-doing the roof on the house.

^that.is.awesome.

Heres the first vehicle that was mine to drive:

First pic: The day he brought it home, I might be 6 or 7 here.

Second pic: Atlanta motor speedway, about to take a lap around the track (we hit about 95 and still didnt feel comfortable in the corners IIRC) I might be around 9.

Third pic: I was out riding when this was taken. At a track in Warner Robins Georgia. I would have been 13 or so...
