Gonna need some serious L E D's in those to light those up.

You'd be suprised. Like BC said, they look darker than they are. 3 coats of VHT "Night Shades" and a few coats of a good urethane automotive clear. The clear actually makes them look darker than they are and really gives them that deep, glossy piano black look.

I have done dozens of sets of tailights for many different cars and have done them all the same. The brake lights, and even parking lights are still visible during the day, Every set I have done used normal off the shelf bulbs... no LEDs, and even with the standard bulbs, they are nicely visible.

Thanks for the input Mark, so whaddya think about the 2 tone black look on em with the shiny lenses and wrinkle finished housing? I kinda dig the look. I will definately be sending some 83 lenses your way when I get them in production.

I like it! I didn't even realize form the pics that they were wrinkle finish til you mentioned it. Lookin good!

Just let me know what all you need done once you get the lenses in production. I'll give ya a sweet deal and am willing to trade labor for NASCAR tickets LOL

Update time. Finally getting motivated to get this car back together now that I have the 1/4 panel I need from parting a car and all of that is done and over with. Here are some updated pictures of the progress.

Passenger side is complete and bodywork is roughed in and in cheapo rattle can primer to protect until paint and body man gets it.

Drivers side is cut off and work has begun on repairing the rust beneath the rust beneath the rust...:(

I am looking for this section in rust free condition shipped to NC 28027 if anyone who is looking at this has a piece they are willing to cut out for me. PM me!

More to come as progress continues.

Looks good. Also I know what I'm looking at on mine when rust repair starts. I think my fenders are clean but my rockers and inside of the doors looks just like yours.

Will be following for updates!

I like the swiss cheese hood.

okay people what the hell is the deal I did not type that!!

I like the hood. If you can find a place to loose a pound find 16 places to loose an ounce!

I did type that.

Do you still need the panel?

Good luck, I hope yours goes easier than mine has.

I do need the section that is marked off in tape, cut all the way thru to the floor board if you have it rust free and are willing to cut and ship it. Thanks!

Wow what an undertaking! So glad we don't have rust issues down here. Good luck man.

Yeah, it sucks. None of my NC cars have rust, just this POS from PA. Unfortunately its my favorite, so I have to do what's in my ability to do. Now paint and final bodywork is gonna have to be a paid job for someone. I just don't have the knack for it. Thanks for the well wishes. Im rolling on with it now. :)

  • 2 weeks later...

Love your work man...

Thank you, hopefully I can get this old bucket back to what it deserves.

And here are some updates... not much to show. I have been fitting up the outer wheel house and 1/4 skin until I can find the lower inner rocker section I need. Here are some pictures.

More to come hopefully as I have a couple of weeks off starting the week of Thanksgiving, and hopefully I can work it out with Allen to get the pieces I need from his car listed in the parts section today.

Im glad the pics could help you. And thanks for the kind words on the progress and the shop. I shudder to think of the stuff you would turn out if you had a serious shop available to you 24/7, after seeing what you've done thus far...I bet the outcomes would be mind blowing. Hollar at me if you need any other pics of my rust bucket to help you figure out your progress ect, on yours. Also, if you need any clean patch pieces, I have a few bits available, and am probably picking up another rust free car to sacrifice soon.
