propeine
I love the fuel distribution box with individual lines. Sweet setup altogether though with the custom IC and TB adapter. Tom
Alspos
Nice job and very different. One suggestion, throttle cable needs to be relocated so it pulls straight. Last thing you need is to fray the throttle cable and for it to get stuck at full noise.
substock
very interesting setup. you might want to get a small piece of aluminum to mount the ignition module to. that way you have a heat sink attached to it.
TopDawg_43
Nice setup! Very inovative! I like you IC setup as well. I hope you didn't use that flywheel, it's junk!
JamesR
So it looks like you went with the brass fittings for the inj. bungs. I like it and was thinging of using them too. I also like what you did for the fuel inj. top hat. I was just going to attach the rubber hose directly to the inj. and silicone the injector to the inj. bung, but I like your way better. Good job so far.

I hope you didn't use that flywheel, it's junk!whats junk about it? it revs soo much better with that flywheel than with the stock million pounder. but that could be from the increased airflow and better fuel control as well. --- the throttle cable has been addressed, but not resolved. I will probably do that tonight. --- I also plan to make a heatsink for the ignition module tonight. --- as for siliconing in the injectors. keep in mind you plan to run boost. hit the injector with 5 pounds of boost a few times and it will surely pop out.on the lower bung, i used the stock dsm rubber seats, i just had to throw some jb weld under them so there was a ridge so they wont push down into the manifold. chiplee
is that an interfreezer?
button
TopDawg_43, So far its working fine. And I can just get a replacemnet ring for the flywheel. if it comes down to that ill buy a new one for $50. chiplee, nope, just a pwr water to air IC. 2.25 in/out and 10" long. I didnt know about the interfreezer until after i had the ic and lines installed :/
TopDawg_43
I didn't know that you could replace the ring as well. Seems like it would be a real pain to replace it alone. It appears that trying to remove the ring gear would damage te flywheel, seeing how it's pressed on. Hey, you learn something new everyday. button
TopDawg_43, Actually, I'd have to send it of to fidanza. They said as soon as they get it, they should be able to ship it out the same day for $50 flat including shipping.
artinist
very good start. it takes time to get these details and cosmetics worked out. however I see problems with your hoses. btw, the following isn't meant to be offensive. 1st, that fuel line you are using is NOT for fuel injection use. its for carbs. I see it says rated for 50 psi which is pretty good quality for regular fuel line but its its not meant to be used for fuel injection. it will be 4th of july if one of them pops. try not use use steel braided lines either. they only last a couple of years and then the fuel starts penetrating through the rubber interior. best place i found for fuel injection hose is jcwhitney http://www.jcwhitney.com/autoparts/ItemBro...ID:100000180970 "Rating: exceeds 900 psi. Fluorelastomer-lined hose is .030" thick, impervious to emission and fuel penetration"$44 for 10 ft. 2nd, that clear plastic braided hose can't stand heat worth crap. i have tried using them before (not on this car, lol). it melts and deforms and discolors just from underhood temps not to mention it makes the engine bay look like a public laundry. get some black heater hose instead and be safe.
Questsi
I commend you on a very innovative setup. It's not the prettiest, but very unique indeed. Keep up the good work.
Funky Phil
Congrats! You need to mass produce that setup! I think the fuel delivery would be nicer with like 2 fuel rails, 1 for each pair. Awsome job though!! phil
button
phinko, Thank you! But I have no means to mass produce any parts. Also, I wouldn't dream of mass producing anything without fully testing it. As for the dual fuel rails. I did think about that but the plumbing fittings fit so well and it required no machining. thats about my only reasoning for that. Questsi, Thank you! Most my projects don't look so pretty, but so far they have all functioned great. I hope to have her full on the street in a week. Just waiting on a ss clutch line from Oscar. Art, Thanks for the info. And Good eye! I didnt notice it was only rated at 50psi! Thats the last time I trust the kid at autozone. First he grabs me the wrong studs, now this. errr.. Anyways. For the clear tubing, a couple local guys are running it as radiator hoses on dsms. One guy, Ace, has had it on his talon for over a year with no discoloation besides from using tap water, getting that redish iron build up. The main reason I picked the clear stuff is so I can keep a better eye on my water level for the IC. Thank you for the constructive criticizm. And tonight I finished rolling my fenders out so they dont rub my tires anymore. And now I'm going to go fix the throttle cable and put a heatsink on the ignition module. Richie_Rich
Where did you get the water intercooler? I saw some of those somewhere and thought that would interesting to try. I love seeing an innovative setup like you have.Nice job. I'll be interesting is hearing how it all works.
MontyTSI
pretty cool, once its tuned i would imagine you have the fastest flatty on this side of the world now your going to make me do two mpi conversions this winter..lol good job,Monty
button
Richie_Rich: I got it on ebay. It's a PWR 4x10 2.25"in/out barrel type. It was under $400 for the IC, but $125 for the pump and about $30 in fittings and hose for it. MontyTSI:Thank you! I'm actually just hoping for one of the most reliable, and finely tuned Quests. In the next few weeks, after I get a good street tune, I plan to drive it over to the boys at AMS in Chicago and let them play with it for an hour or so. Right now I'm waiting on a clutch line from Oscar. Oh and dont forget to use a shielded wire for your tach signal if you plan to go over 4k. Joshua Harris
nice work man. we can all agree you may not win show and shine at the next car show. But we can all say nice job for working with what you have and staying within a budget. Still trying to figure out why I have bought 5 starquest in the last year and dumped tooooo much into. button
Well Richie_Rich, after I bought the IC and pump, I would rather have bought an interfreezer. As far as efficiency, the air-to-water ICs have proven to be better than the traditional front mounts. As far as the interfreezer, I haven't seen it proven, but it takes the cake on "theory".Those Thermal hard pipes look interesting, but I dont think they would be as efficeint as a water-to-air IC. being that they dont have as much surface area in there being cooled. They also dont have any real facts on the THP on their site other than the ways to set it up. Joshua, Thank you very much. And, it was hard on a budget, but it runs great. button
I hate to be wrong, but TopDawg_43 was right, the flywheel is all kindsa screwed up now. It has to go back to fidanza for a new ring gear. My local fidanza dealer/clutch shop (South Bend Clutch) said I need a new flywheel, you cant replace the ring gear. Fidanza on the other hand said they will replace it with a 2 day turn around.. man.. it was almost completely streetable..
