My 6 puck Comp Clutch from the group buy recently started slipping. I tore the trans out and checked the clutch. Saw a little bit of surface rust around, but otherwise the clutch and pressure plate did not look horribly overheated. Does anyone have the service limits on clutch thickness for the comp clutch? Also the springs in the center hub of the disk, have their receiving slots beat up pretty bad. Th corners are ovaled out, is this normal? Car has 5 years of auto x and drag launches on it (

I've got a 97, 4.0 4wd Ranger. Had it for roughly 12-13 years, and have been pretty up on the maintenance. Every now and then the motor gets a bit of rattle at start up in the morning. Only happens after sitting a long time. It's a rattle, not a knock, and it's present between 1500 and 1700 rpms. The exhaust is quiet so I get a good ear for any odd noise that comes about.
