New Supplier?

Recommended Posts

it did 10.61 and it probably had 200 shot. impossilbe for it to do 11.0 on motor.

and the way its shifting with those tall tires, it most likely has 4.22 rear gears.

and what was the miles an hour on that run anyway? the timer seems to show 79 mph, whats the deal with that? maybe I am not reading correctly.

I was looking at the FC-PRO-4 .

That sounds like a great price.

I wonder if it's a Megasquirt or based on that system?

Anyone know?

Is it sequential?

I did notice it's a fuel control and doesn't say it controls spark.

I dont think our ECU controls spark just fuel.  Spark is triggered by the sensor in the dist, and advance is made by the advance weights.  I think the knock sensor ties in with the Ignitor box and    retard is controled by vacuum so the Ecu probably uses the spark sensor to know when to turn on the fuel pump but I think thats it..

No it is not megasquirt ed is going to post pics of the board next to a megasquirt board so everyone can stop saying its megasquirt.

PS what is wrong with megasquirt it is very reliable just about the fastest easyist to tune cheapest fuel board in the world but thats just my $0.02.

PS whats with all the NASAYING on this board.............. ???

A lot of different people have come on the board(s) and promised great products but never delivered. Some people have become very skeptical/protective over the years because of that. It only seems like a very "won't believe until I see it" environment because it is. People on these boards want proof. Some vids of the cars running with your system might help. We have been burned so many times that some of us are automatically distrustfull of new products and vendors. But...some people just hate to see others succeed. :-[ I, however, wish you guys the best of luck.

Thanks,

CJ

it is not my system (I WISH IT WAS!!) I am just a satisfied customer who has become friends with The FIP guys after they sold me their system so ive just been trying to let people know what they can do. I have been around the boards since riddlers original site(my old UN was Jstarion83Tec but somehow i got locked out of it) you are right about some of the suppliers that have come and gone and starquesters getting burnt so I do see your point. but scott and ed are two great guys that love the starquest and want to help keep as many on the road as possible.  tons of perfectly great cars have been parted out and or junked because of a faulty fuel system. I was so exicted when i found out about their affordable replacement system and i just wanted to share it with all my freinds here on the boards.

Best Regards,

Josh

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with Megasquirt.

It's just that I can build my own Megasquirt for under $200.

My original intention is to build a Megasquirt, but I want spark control too.

That's where UltaMegasquirt would come in, but it's not ready for release yet and who knows when it will.

I guess that's what is nice about the TECII and SDS systems, though the price is up there.

I really hope these uinits turn out to be a good thing.  I'm looking forward to meeting up with the FuelInjectionPro guy(s) and checking their systems out.

I agree that the megasquirt is a great system, I've had nothing but good experience with it.  When I finally get my car back on the road, MS will be controlling distributorless ignition as well, so no need to wait for UltraMS.  BTW, for everyones info, the new site for Megasquirt is http://www.msefi.com

people are building/selling megas for ~$250

You don't have to wait for Ultra. Folks have been running megajolt spark control for some time now.

d.i.y. spark control box cost ~$60, laptop controllable ignition. Uses inexpensive, reliable, junkyard 90s escort 1.9L; module, trigger wheel, sensor, coils and corresponding connectors.

I've seen a couple turbocharged 1.6L toyotas making good power using MJ... doesn't really car what motor you put it on tho.

Neat stuff going on with *very affordable* programmable management systems nowadays.

Lots of naysayers here, tell me about it.  ::)

Just blow it off. I've been thru it too.

I'd have to say SDS might be one of the easiest systems to set up.

I'd say for the money it is a value also.

I am very excited to announce that my 83 Starion runs great!  All thanks goes to the fuelinjectionpro.com PRO-3 kit and all of the help and advice received form Starquestclub.com.  When I first got the 83 Starion it didn't run and with all of the great advice from the people of this board, I was able to diagnose the problem as being a bad stock fuel injection system with leaking injectors and deteriorated o-rings.  I looked into all of the options available including replacing the injectors with stock new or used, and possibly going to MPI.  I decided to go with fuelinjectionpro.com PRO-3 kit and upgrade over stock and also be able to upgrade even more later to an MPI setup with the items used in the kit.

After receiving the kit, it took me about 2 full-days to install it and route all the wires properly and clean.  The kit was very complete and the directions were easy to read and somewhat thourough making it easy to get the install process done.  Some parts of the directions assumed that you knew where stock items were located.  I also liked the fact that help was available with a phone call if I ever got in a bind.  I mounted my new fuel controller in the old stock cpu location with self tapping srews as opposed to the recommended in glove box.  Also I removed the AC white box on the far right in order to gain easier access to the o2 gromet.  There is a lot of wire routing and flex-loom work involved that only looks as good as you are willing to make it look.  I opted for the most professional install possile which boosted my total install time to 2 full days.  I also would recommend installing a new TB base gasket while the new top is installed.  Also, items not included with the kit are new o-rings for the regulator stock tube and TB top bolts and srews.  I kept the same stock long bolts but upgraded the two srews to allen head type.  The new water temp sensor was difficult to srew in but eventually went in and hopefully was not cross threaded.  The new air temp sensor was easily mounted in the OVCP by using a dremel to grind away the seem and a uni-bit to get the desired hole size.  The wires were all color coded and the connectors were all ready crimped on making the kit fairly easy to install.  The majority of the time was spent routing the wires and doing a clean professional install.

After installing the complete system, the car started right up and ran excellent right out of the box.  After it started there were no fuel leaks and no electrical quirks to work out because I made sure to do it right the first time.  I've had no problems at all with the complete system in its first week of operation and it enabled me to pass emissions testing with no problems the cars first try.  The new FI system totally fixed all of my problems and made it easy to add a CAI with K&N cone filter since the MAS is eliminated.  The car is extremely fast and has plenty of fuel now if I plan on increasing the boost.  The kit along with the chrome intake,  totally made the engine bay look brand new and is a very attractive setup.  I plan on posting pics soon.

Overall I would say that my purchase of the PRO-3 was definitely a wise one and I am very satisfied with the product and the performance that it has helped me acheive.  I don't mind the initial investment considering that it will save me from dealing with 83 FI nightmares ever again.  I would recommend the kit to anyone who is competent enough to do this type of major install but believe that the novice should leave this install to a professional.

I hope it wasn't construed as naysaying when I thought that this system was MS-based. As I said before, I love the MS, I may never use anything but it and its derivatives.  I for one think this looks like a good alternative to high-dollar systems, more in the price range of the average 'Quest owner.  I think fuel tunability will open a lot of doors for more power/less money.  Congrats to FI pro on throwing out another alternative for the SQC crowd!
