solid power n tq. Amazing what JZs do with just a SAFC 2 & injectors..... a bunch of em runnin around here. Probably where all those SAFCs from the DSM dudes, end up. I believe they stop making SAFC years ago. Pretty effective device for what it was. I suppose stuff like the AEM F/IC took up where SAFC left off. Controls fuel + timing for $100 more. Great IF they work

works fine for me.... anyway maybe this ? http://www.clublexus.com/forums/car-chat/456055-my-tt-1uz-ae86.html

this dude did, in his AE86 corolla like 7 years ago iirc. Kept the auto tranny as well http://club4ag.com/forums/download/file.php?id=125&mode=view dunno how to post pix anymore

True, but also depends moreso on how wisely you spend your money. The final result won't only "keep up with" modern performance cars.... it can wax them. Fun part is, we can set it up to suit, at a cost way less than that modern machinery Cambered? how/why do they do that ? s12 has a live axle iirc - lol Most underestimate the capability of the little turd Last I chatted with the owner of the 10.3 sec street car, he said it should touch nines once he replaces the 3.90 with a 3.69 from the Z. Winds out 3 gears in the quarter. Pretty amazing for a full street rwd 1.8L 5speed no spray street ride imo. Boost cranked up, car dyno'd 679 atw. Ran less at the strip, plus no seat time..... so who knows small tube header + t3/t4 + a good tune.... be it live mapping the nissan ecu or standalone, has taken street 240sx 11.9-11.7 using a bone stock unopened 20 year old ca18. (Should dust any TBI not spraying. Something's up with that 4k motor above.) Folks have beat these CA18s for years @ 3,4,5,600 hp. Stock they have their quirks, but really no biggie to sort out. You can find fully polished, chromed ca18 samples..... only when a motor impresses one reliably, it can suck you in like that

what a bunch of crazy fools! They must all have a death wish. Super tough course The 4d56 makes the power, survives an endurance race, and sweeps the podium..... but its not a good motor ?? How so ?

I'm curious if any starquest owner actually buys parts from TEP. Something is keeping their doors open I think it was prety cool to have dedicated vendors around, like CNM (which didn't turn out to well either..... but their products and approach, seemed like a decent layout). With no one stop shop, we could always get by like the turboford guys. Some useful info over there, we can apply A couple megasquirters cover their standalone needs. We have Scottstar thankfully Good clutch options from various clutch outfits Inexpensive proven t3/t4 upgrades from Evergreen or Performance Techniques Head porters, cam suppliers..... and so on

sounds more like a crappy specimen. That puny lil 1.8L motor can be a tough monster full weight 100% street s13, full body kit, custom paint, 18s, etc... 10.3 @ some ridiculous mph & lazy 1.7 60ft lots of youtube videos of another street ca18 s13, 705 atw still on E85 + mild 260 Tomei hydraulic cams both owners detailed their simple builds & diy tuned. Brains behiond the motor makes all the difference in the world

with a few dollars, old cars (like the S12) 'come alive' and will outperform most new cars.... for a fraction of the cost one of our clubmembers swapped the sohc ca18Et for the dohc ca18DEt. With only a evoIII 16g/header, 550s, SAFC, zx AFM, fmic, exhaust, clutch Lights up 3rd gear at will. Few new cars can. Suspension, brakes... pick your poison

would the DSM 'rack' pump, work properly with the SQ steering box ? did the SQ power steering pump give any warning before failure ? anybody have success repairing a power steering pump using one of those $15 seal kits ?
-
so does a 4g63, sr20, ca18, etc. The nissans are already rwd = far easier and cheaper swap Even the majority of 3sg-corolla folks regretted their motor choice, as too fussy & costly That excludes the BEAMS 3sg(normally aspirated) from the rwd altezza. whoever built that starion looks like they knew what they were doing and, wanted out of the 3SG for track use tho My comment directed towards the "average" swap prospect If u gonna run a toyota 4cyl in a starquest for street use, a RZ is a better choice to me Readily available, rwd stock, lots more torque, no hotside all tangled up with lhd brakes and steering.... just to name a few
-
LUV those little minis! Dad gave me his 1275GT as one of my 1st cars. Nothing feels like those tiny marvels Still kickin myself for selling it 3SG is one of the worst rwd swaps. Wayyyy too much hassle for literally zero advantage vs the alternatives

This G54B is going into uncharted territory!

stock cam + 'decent' sized turbo normally peak 400 ft=lbs ~4000rpm (from my observations) performance cam looks like it shifted tq peak 1200 rpm higher and fought off the nose dive was the holset 12cm exhaust housing used ? luv seeing these solid 54 builds. Good stuff

What kind of power do you think I'll make/place 'ya bets
jinx replied to Aman's topic in Just plain ol' B.S.
hotrod magazine used $300 cxracing turbo on their budget 700hp bone stock junkyard truck LS motor. Lonnnnng thread on mustang forums on running ebay snails Loads of discussions online of folks getting their turbo shop to check their ebay turbos beforehand. Ask yours Most impressive street corolla in the club gone 10.8, china t3t4 @27psi pump gas, stock 20v head most powerful stock bottom end 1.6 @600+ hp, ebay T70 with compressor upgrade Corky Bell sells "chinachargers" for miata. What does he know ? - lol Many found use for china turbos and get good service outta them -
if u r guided by drawing these little imaginary boxes around everything, that's fine. I stick to seeing proof Some FC guys have blown up the 5spds at less that 250hp. Try telling them "u think" they can handle 400hp MAX I'll bet many folks told that guy no 100% street turbo II could touch 10s either.... yet 9.65sec later I'd rather discuss driveline component capability in torque. 350-400hp MAX says nothing really. 13b vs 4g64 = apple vs orange Shock kills more boxes/driveline components than anything. Show us how you measured that ? "coltboostin" posted his 567hp 4g64 rx7 here. stock turbo II 5spd Bottom line is, there are tooooo many cars out there that break all of those "little rules"
-
I'll believe that when we see some street starions going 10s on oe 5spd, like the 7 guys..... forget 9s Hasn't happened after all these years...... wait for it if ya like Any box can break, and "hold the torque" is subjective RX7 boxes select at higher rpms too. Try it with a starquest box
-
i'm sure it was the stock turbo II 5spd. Dude was a no-nonsense quiet type who willingly shared his mods a rotary veteran who knew how to get the most out of a setup. Makes a big difference. Both 10sec miatas I know of ran rx7 turbo II 5spds (after killing the weaker miata 5spds). A common upgrade http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread.php?t=427252 quite a few turbo IIs in the hi 400s tq on stock 5spds. Miata box wouldn't get close For ex this one at 395 ft-lbs gone mid 10s, no spray. Heavy driver says ~3000 pounds with him http://www.rx7club.com/time-slips-dyno-128/new-dynoo-490-hp-395-tq-593729/
-
dunno man.... I witnessed a sheety lookin turbo II run a 9.8sec then two 9.6sec passes back ~1996. Unheard of at the time 100% full weight street car. Stock 13b(moded obviously) and 5spd. He sprayed 75 shot too tho. I spoke to the owner while he fiddled with the car between runs, but lost track of him goin back and forth No weak box can do that! No full wt street car gonna et that quick with "no torque" ....and street turbo rotaries are not particularly 'high revving', I'd say smooth but not high

i bought one of those harbour frieght drillmaster drills and the pos never holds a drill bit tight enough... but polishing was the only use i found for it. Go thru sandpaper grades 400 > 800 > 1200 > 2000 then the brown > grey > white bars on polishing wheels and it should look like a mirror...... if thats what you're after

here is your d.i.y. plate to put a starion box onto a dsm narrow block 'on a budget' http://i211.photobucket.com/albums/bb199/Miggles62/Starion/conversion018-1.jpg taken from this thread http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=10602 too bad austarion requires registering to see build threads... for whatever reason Tons of swap ideas detailed on that site tho, so may be worth it. http://forums.austarion.com/viewforum.php?f=13
-
4g63 swap does not have to be costly. Tooooo many examples out there. A bunch of mighty max/D50 4g63 swaps detailed also. check http://projectzerog.com/ http://forums.austarion.com/viewforum.php?f=13 u won't find 'many' here with 450+hp 54 either. Austarion has 'many' gone from nice sohc mpi to dohc... way happier Lots more folks out there happy with TBI 54, so I'm sure a MPI 54 satisfy its share The lure of a 4g63/4 is what opens up a whole new world of options no mpi conversion needed. No dohc dreaming. No cracking 2.6 blocks or heads. want cams that "work" ? wanna scream to/past 8000 rpm ? want proven 5,6,7,800 hp(or beyond) combos ? want real power from "tunable" stock mitsu electronics ? .....just to name a few Like I said, all depends on your goal
