Oil Seperator Alternative

That canister with the fittings and hose will run you around 300.00 but when people are just so damn ignorant of what its for what comments did you expect? Not everyone has their priorities in the same order.

Hey, I'm not ignorant, Michael Jackson, I made a legitiment post. Are YOU going to buy it? Is the OP? lulz, probably not. It's a great idea, and I like it, but seriously, there are items for much cheaper that do pretty much the same thing, and 99% of starquesters won't spend that kind of money on this. Just saying man, don't get mad.

The last picture on page one shows the unit cut apart, and the first picture on page two shows one being flushed with a parts washer.

Basically, soak it with a liquid degreaser(purple power or whatever), flush it out with water and repeat the process until the stuff that comes out isn't nasty anymore. You could blow air into it to dry it out.

I'm not sure if mineral spirits will break down the filtering media or not.

This is the sweatest catch can/seperator ever! Thank you for posting this. I have been searching online for a few nights trying to find a legitimate baffled catch can (not an empty polished soda can) and the best one I could find was from this company:

http://www.saikoumichi.com/ but it doesn't have a drain back or a filter that you can replace.

The right part made of high quality materials is worth every penny everytime.

The problem with those are you end up seeing two of them or more and most times those are on cars that never had a turbo on them and have been converted. They are also usually included with an open oily mess filter. They don't have the ability to flow high cfms at low pressure that is why they end up with oil in them. Soon as those filters get oiled the flow is reduced and the crankcase pressure increases to compensate if you will to keep the pressure flowing and that means more oil is carried out with the pressure. Most separators are mesh yes and those will have a sump or drain or whatever but a filter is different. The filter can't cause reduced flow or you went backwards by using it. If you want, you can try one of there inline with a separator just put it in between the turbo inlet and the separator and see what happens. You would have to get a pretty big one to be able to at least use 3/8 hose barbs to not have it becoming a restrictor.

yea i wouldnt do it on a high dollar car...but for a quick ALT. until you can get the rite stuff id use it. Thats exactly what i was talkin about tho....id put a hose from the bottom to the oil pan tho.

honestly tho, id jus use the stock set-up over anything.....best working for the cheapest price.....

forget about krank vents and all that exspensive stuff (unless you put that much money into your car)
