thagremlin
bringing back an old thread so i finally got around to painting my valve cover i couldnt figure out what color to paint the VC. but i came to a color and it was black, VHT wrinkle black. with a sparkle finish. came pretty nice. of course looks alot better in person. so heres the beforehttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0004.jpgthen after stripping paint.http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/1fa3f7ed.jpgafter first coat you can see its still wet but starting to wrinklehttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0162.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0164.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0161.jpgafter 2 hours of air drying looks like thishttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0172.jpgup close outsidehttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0168.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0167.jpg and then after hitting it with a heat gun for about 15mins i sprayed 3 coats of clear using the heat gun between coats. and let it dry for 24hours the final result (tried to capture it the best i can with the camera)http://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0173.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0177.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/Starion%20stuff/SAM_0178.jpghttp://i49.photobucket.com/albums/f256/maricherry1987/76d783d3.jpg let me know what you guys think
leesfer
I love the wrinkle effect... What paint did you use? I attempted this last week but the paint didn't come out with that texture, it looks more like cracking
thagremlin
I used VHT wrinkle plus paint. I got it at autozone. To get the wrinkle effect you need to use heavy thick coats. Let it sit for 5 mins then spray again. But every coat needs to be vertical, then horizontal and then diagonal. Let it dry air for 2 hrs then it recommends 20 mins in the oven. But I didn't feel like stinking up the house so I used a heat gun. Then let it dry for 24hrs.

BC_99
I have used that paint many times on my grill, markers, c post trim, bowls, ect. The trick I use is to use the halogen lights from northern tools to make a heat light oven and use the 3 diff direction spray technique. It works great for me. pc85
That's a crazy looking intake, never seen one like that before... it looks really goodIts a maxboost87 original. He just finished my engine build and I wanted to go MPI but I didn't want to move the A/C nor the battery so he came up with this desgin to use original OVC intake position. randy
Hey Bag-O-Chips do you have a video of the car running with chads intake? How many of you are still running ac after going MPI?
Technology
I removed it before I went MPI, it would be nice to have on hot days, but that's why they invented shorts and t-shirts, plus drive barefoot and you benefit in two ways, your feet are cooler and you get the true feel of the pedals. randy
I don't think i'll like the bare foot drive thing.
Technology
You'd be surprised. It's harder to press the pedals, but you get a much better idea of how much swing is needed to affect things (clutch particularly).
