First off, I want to give a big thanks to Kelly at *DM performance for helping me over the phone with my build, and giving me great quality parts at great prices!

Also a thanks to Josh Red Tsi who's post about the MAF-Translator influenced me to purchase one for myself and I have had great results with it!

And thanks to anyone that answered my newbie questions and helped me out along the way!

Background on car:

My best friends uncle has a conquest with a few mods that everyone calls the Corvette eater. After i saw this sexy looking car that was extremely fast, I knew I wanted one! I had previously been a DSM guy. When I saw one on Craigslist, org (great web site to find deals on cars). I rushed down to buy it. Talked the guy down to $1150 (he purchased it at a towing auction... someone is going to hate me when they see me in their car) And I have fell in love!!!

Here is what I have done so far:

Full tune up

TB rebuild

*DM 3 inch exhaust

Full *DM hardpipe kit

Intercooler Mod

GM 3in MAF

MAF-Tr anslator

AEM UGEO Wideband

Autometer Boost Guage

And more to come

These last pictures are a little sad but funny. This morning I decided to take her out for a saturday stroll. I went to Target and upon my exit, the steepness of the hill fore off the back half of my exhaust... No damage, just embarissing and a very loud ride home...

It looks like you got a heck of a deal! I'm a big fan of the Atlantic blue cars and yours looks to be in really nice condition.

Excellent choice of mods as well, you got rid of a lot of restriction on the intake and exhaust sides of the engine and a boost gauge & WBO2 should help you keep tabs on the engine. For anyone interested in the best bolt on's to create a quick TBI car, that list is a great way to start IMHO.

Thank you everyone!

I definitly need more fuel and a bigger turbo.

Its not often that a 4 CYL can put someone in their seat like this! Its amazing, and I am still pretty much stock running 10 PSI.

And its also not often that you can find a group of guys and gals that has such a passion for a car that everyone helps everyone else...

I love my conquest

:D

stock turbo and all? now the MAF-T. what 1/4 mile can she run with the MAF-T tuned?

i am interested to know.

I havnt tried yet. I need to get a better clutch in there first.

Yes, I do need the krankvent kit. I hear that K&N style filter I have on there is no good... Am I right?

Let's explore some ideas to get a 3/4" vent into the valve cover. Cause the bigger the vent......the BETTER IT WILL VENT!

that way it has suction and draws pressure out of the engine.

if you dont the dipstick might pop and blow oil all over the engine compartment.

just becareful it does not hit the down pipe.

That has to be one of the dumbest things I have ever seen. You better ride around with about a quart of oil in your trunk becuase everytime you boost it all that vapor pressure and some oil will just fly out the exhuast. Thats why boosted cars have "Oil Separators" to separate the air and the oil and drain the "Oil" back into your engine not blow it out the tail pipe.

If your worried about building up oil in the separator and not returning it back to the oil sump fast enought just weld on a larger nipple on the oil return of the Oil Separator and same for the pan. Running the vapors into the tail pipe is a bad idea IMO

Thats a Crankcase Evacuation setup.

It's been done for years on v8s and IIRC it helps a ton.

I was thinking about doing this on my car, but havent had a reason to drop the exhaust since it got under 40°.

It's kinda hard to find good info on the crank evac setup, but everytime i do i read good things. My dad had one on his chevelle and said it ELIMINATED his oil consumption.

Oh yeah, you see that rear vent he said to pull the vacuum from?

it has baffles that help reduce the oil output dramatically.

after you hook that up you can get rid of your pcv as well. your pcv doesnt pull anything compared to what a crank evac will.

Umm yeah we deal with somethin called PSI here... Unless your dads chevelle is blown it does not pertain to this. PSI comes through everything! Valve seals, rings, turbo, LOTS of places. Running your vent in the exhuast is RETARTED you WILL blow your oil out of your engine. Your consumption will go out the roof.

EVERYTHING DEALS WITH Pounds per Square Inch (unless you use a different system like kpa, or bar, or inches of mercury.). We have positive pressure...

The idea is it creates a vacuum in the crankcase causing the rings and valve seals to SEAL better. IF the crankcase goes positive, which it will on anything other than a FRESH build thats broken in, thats what the CHECK VALVE is for. So you dont blow all your oil (which wont happen since theres baffles) out your tailpipe.

kurt.. try reading up before spouting out its "retarded" because that would just seem ignorant.

Umm buddy I am the farthest thing from ignorant on this subject. I have tryed lots of ways to delete the oil separator and when it came down to it, better to have it than not too. Its your car do as you wish but I myself I like to keep my oil in my engine and out of my exhuast. I don't really like to buy a quart of oil a day. No one has tryed it yet see we'll see

im with Kurt...think about it...with the stock set-up

oil goes into the oil separator and back into the oil pan

without the oil seperator etc. what would keep the oil from goin into the exhaust with that set-up?

kurt makes perfect sense to me.

To add to that, I don't see how an exhaust pulse/flow will create more vacuum than a turbo spooling.. I dunno. :?
