Something temperary still dont know if I like. You decide the vents are from a 280zx one is next to turbo the other is right over the intake. They work very well. ;D

And that is the turbo that you see under the vent... big 16g, Pushed my car to 280hp and 300ftlbs...all at 3500 rpm after that clutch let go. I guess stock clutches are good up to 250hp ???.

Yeah I liked that mod the first time I saw it ;D I just thought I would add both vents.. Now I need to take it to my paint guy to touch up my work plus redo his flame job, I know he is not going to be happy about that :P . But money talks and Im sure he will be all ears ;)

Looks good to me man. I was actually thinking about doing that to my hood with either the 280sx scoops, or the z34 lumina scoops....

Yes money does talk. Speaking of which where'd you find those in such good shape?

Man I got lucky.. My grandfather had got them years ago from a j/y and never put them on his 280. He put them in his garage and forgot about them. He tore down his garage to rebuild it and I saw them in the throw away pile :o . So I thought I would give them a good home.

I would imagine that if you went junkyarding you might be able to find you some, Just need alittle sanding and painting.

Looks great,I was also going to do something similer with that vent, like just over the turbo. I havn't decided yet, still looking at vents/scoops.I'm also working on vents for my fenders. I have a 85 300zx turbo and the scoop on that would be cool on a quest.

Just out of curiosity, what happens when it rains?

Do you think the water on a hot turbine housing will hurt? Or does the vent have a way of "filtering" out the water.  Looks good. Shame to see that cool paint job in primer tho. I look forward to part 2 of the paint flames ;D

The 280zx scoops, did not have rain trays if I remember correctly(I could be wrong). They were there to serve a purpose, not to be there for looks. I don't think the amount of rain that would get in there would do any damage. I could see if you had walls of water crashing on the hood, then that might cause a problem.

I'm going to put the Lumina Z34 hood scoops on mine, I think it looks nice, and somewhat belongs there. No reason to add them for form, they must function in my mind...

Besides, cooler running temps under the hood is a good thing. I also think it will help a lot in stop a go traffic, heat evacutation will be excellent with one above the turbo and one above the intake manifold (heat rises folks).

Thats just my opinion though.

I just picked up a set of late 80s Trans Am hood vents that will be making their way into the header panel. Not sure what to do with the hood tho. Possibly wait for an 83.

As far as the 280 vents, I like it with just the one over the turbo.

Something like this link i found on DSM tuner might work nice over the heatshield area..

He made a nice write up here http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread...age=1&pp=25

Best thing about this is its cheap.  Im wondering about water tho like say you park outside overnight or for a few days how much rust issue would we be dealing with..

I put two vents in my hood from a 280ZX but they are different from any I see here. I made little aluminum trays under the hood to catch the water. I took them off for a little while to see if it would run cooler. It rained and the engine wouldn't start. I found the Ignitor box plug full of water. I put the pans back on and no more problem.

I would show pictures but I can't host pictures.
