ramidi
I'm planning on buying a complete set of poly bushings soon since I have the money... and since mine are rotting away every day I drive and I was wondering how difficult they are to install? I have never done suspension work before and just need to know how hard of a job this is to tackle. I would greatly appritiate any advice or recommendations on the subject. Feel free to email me at ramidi@nu-world.com or just post here.

Yellow_quest
http://www.midwestturbo.com Otis sells the Full poly bushing set, or he has them in a package with shocks and swaybars. Yellow_quest
heefner
you will need access to a torch to burn the old rubber bushings out. You will need to jack the car up and be able to support remove and replace the rear. You will probably need a large pry bar as well.
Mr._HP
I did this procedure and found it to be quite a bit of work, but all worth it in the end!! All you need to burn the bushings out is a propane torch. As for getting the whole rear end out, it would be best if you had a lift but I managed without :-/ I put the car up on jackstands as high as I could get it and then unbolted everything and brought it down with a jack. I didn't need a prybar to get it down due to the weight of everything, but it was real fun getting it back in!!! While it was all out i deceided to snadblast and repaint everything with epoxy paint since burning out the old bushings also left the paint a little burnt looking. Just some info for ya, so you know what you're getting into. good luck and get a friend to help.
chiplee
nothing like a frame lift and tall "parts lowering" jacks for this job. Â I single-handedly completed the whole job in a day. Â The best thing to do is to drop the whole rearend, swingarms and struts as one piece and go from there. The front is a piece of cake.
kev
Here are pics of Chad's installation of the poly bushings: http://www.geocities.com/my86tsi/poly-1.jpg increment the "poly-x" number, they go up to "poly-15" I belive. you don't need to pull the subframes, I did because I wanted to do the sway bars, replace all the steering, and do a total clean up on everything. conquest89
Where do these two flat bushings go. They look to be about the same diameter of the bushings that go in the crossmember for the torque tube in the rear but only about 1/4 of an inch tall? conquest89
Should I grease the bolts that go through the sleeves when I put it back together?
gunpackingpoet
How often do you have to change these? Â I've got an 86 and it seems like everytime I turn something wants to give. Â $309.99 seems a little expensive, but I assume it's well worth it. Â
conquest89
I have mine installed now, along with the caster camberplates. And I'll tell ya what, it rides nice! nice and tight, but smooth enough to drive around. I live in detroit, and the roads are terrible. There are some that will knock your kidneys loose!
