GTRbillet
Neat cars, always like them as a kid. Here's an interesting project that I just took on for a fellow forum member who has a build in progress. 240sx top, conquest middle, tubular bottom with 240sx rack.
TexasQuest
Those tubular subframes are so nice. I wish someone reputable could make them.

GoldStar
The original front subframe is one of the lift points if using a floor jack. Would this be strong enough to also be used as a lift point? Regardless, very interested in the finished product
GTRbillet
Hi. Yes, the tube would be plenty strong enough. Though you make a good point. You wouldn't want to gouge or dent the tube. Especially if made from chromoly is actually quite thin. Maybe it would be a good idea to incorporate some kind of "lift point". As in a plate or pin welded on for the jack to interface with. I'm always open to suggestions. Thank you for your interest.
LizardKing
Nice work! X2 on Lift point.. Can't recall if anything bolts on to the original subframe. There's an air shield that helps direct the air flow that bolts up underneath but can't recall if it bolts up on subframe. Anyone have knowledge on that? GTRbillet
I have an OEM front subframe here in the shop. It's doesn't have any tapped holes or brackets etc. that would be used for any component mounting.

Actually, I don't care if you are affiliated if you can actually deliver. NDD Fiasco That said I love the design! I also agree with a jack point. 1/4 - 3/8 plate, 4x4" or so under both ends would be ideal. Edited August 20, 2024 by psu_Crash
GTRbillet
Thank you for the input. No, I have no affiliation with NDD and this IS my own design. I've been doing this (machining/fabricating) full time for 22 years now. You think a plate under each "end"? You could actually quite readily jack on the "ends" of the center tube now. I thought maybe we were talking about a center jack point? Either way I can do whatever you want if you happen to order one. I have everything here in house including the powder coating. Located in Southern New Hampshire. I can put this on my website. I didn't want to violate any forum rules by saying the name of the business etc.
GTRbillet
Here is a pic from the bottom side. The hardware shown is not production, just what I had in stock at the moment.
psu_Crash
That really looks great! I see what you mean from the bottom. You could definitely jack from the ends of the bent tubular portion. I do currently jack up the front all at once using the middle of that crossmember. Even with your design, I bet a piece of 2x4 under the center would distribute weight enough. I am what seems like forever away from a rack swap on either of my projects, but I will definitely keep this post saved!
tux
That's awesome, wish I didn't buy the NDD.

tux
Yea. Long story, took him to court and the day before the court date I received a subframe. Didn't have a change to install yet, but I hope it fits and it has no provisions for a steering rack like it was supposed to.

tux
Appreciate it. Car has been waiting 2 years now for paint at the body shop. If it ever gets out of jail maybe
