allen405
So while my quest has been down still this summer I've been doing some minor fixes here and there. One of them is fixing a rear diff cover leak. I got all the bolts out but I can't get the cover out. Would it come out if I took one of the diff mounts off? scott87star
Should come off without that, use a putty knife to break the seal.
allen405
Oh, I got it loose and hanging there, I just can't get it pulled out.

TexasQuest
Pry on it a little bit or lightly hit it with a hammer.
slowquest
I've never been able to get one out without pulling diff mounts.
cowdough
I'm in the same spot. Lol. I'm thinking diff mounts gotta go. Don't want to, but....
TexasQuest
Look at it this way, it's a good time to replace/upgrade them.
kev
Don't think I ever tried to pull the cover on the car. Just pull the mounts. They are fairly easy. Extension bar on your ratchet can reach the nuts on the lower connection accessible from around the a arm. Just spray them down good with pb blaster first. I never had difficulty removing them due to rust but it is always worth it to spray them down first

I've never done these on this car so that's why I ask. Most of the time there are gaskets but this don't
ucw458
I would use black RTV. My cover hasn't leaked and I used black RTV.
