Shaggy_TSi
Hello all. Its been a while since I've started working on my car, been at it for two years now, bringing it to bare metal, rust treatment, epoxy primer, patching a LOT of rust, fixing a lot of things. It may take a while for me to upload pics since I have two years worth of em lol. Anyways they are pretty big, should I make them smaller or post them as they are? Thanks. Ok so this is what i started with. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/054201011_zpsd708a496.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/05420104_zps7a1cb1cd.jpg I loved my car, It was my DD for some time, didn't really ran it hard even tho it was a multiport. Had some electrical issues but overall it was fine. Then one day, just idling at a red light, it started working on three cylinders, meh nothing major, just buy new sparkplugs and good as new(or so I tought). Removed it and found this.http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20140105_221804_zpse4dd5b92.jpg Put in a new one, did exactly the same thing, At this point, the car was really acting up, I was fixing something only to find some other things and so on. I really got frustated. Being a SQC lurker and sawing all those 2jz swaps I went ahead and bought one. Might as well remove the head and see whats up at this point. Found this on cylinder #4.http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20140105_221945_zpsc43c8916.jpg And so began my project (That ended up being a restoration lol) Edited January 6, 2014 by Shaggy_TSi
kidjc
It's nice to see good sized pics, but if they take forever to load... you may lose some on here. In the same breath, small pics don't show much, & tend to lose my attention. Catch 22? Still be nice to check out all the work involved! TexasQuest
Just use a hosting site like photobucket or imageshack. The bigger the pics the better but not too big.
Shaggy_TSi
*Edited First post btw* As I start the tear down, I realized my car had been on a pretty solid colision. Drivers side rear quarter panel was replaced, front passenger side from the firewall to the front was replaced, and a pretty bad job at that. Had a leaking issue that I tought was bad windshield silicon but when I removed the front fenders it was pretty bad. I know how you lot love pics so heres a few pics of that. Removed all mounting tabs and front cross member since it was pretty rusted. Decided to give the 2jz some more air so removed part of the radiator support. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/2012-01-20033631_zps724b312d.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/2012-01-20033642_zps14511c13.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/2012-01-20033648_zps01c10cca.jpg Brake master and clutch master area had some rusthttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/2012-01-20033801_zpsedddda13.jpg Fender area http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20130520_210751_zpsa4a84cd3.jpg You can see some wires there http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20130520_210808_zpsa9e7cca3.jpg Passenger side "Fix"http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20130520_210831_zps8f2da880.jpg More rust http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/2012-01-20034556_zps8d3b1e20.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/2012-01-20034435_zpsfa4340b1.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/2012-01-20034418_zps6af5315e.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/2012-01-20033712_zps86506368.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/2012-01-20033734_zps468cdad8.jpg And this is just form the engine bay lol(Omitted some more rust pics). Shaggy_TSi
So, are the pics in post #4 recent? Was just wondering where in the timeline you are. Looking good btw!! Those pics are when I started the teardown 2 years ago. Thanks How do you fix that portion of the rust area in pic #6 with the exposed wires showing? That areais under the dash and behind the kick panel. Havent gone to that yet, fixed other easily seen rust areas first but the plan is to cut the side, patch the rusted area and place it back. Actually done it before on another car.

Shaggy_TSi
With the car stored and not doing any big-time repairs to it, I removed interiors, rear subframe bushings and did some repairs to those rear arms (no pic right now of it, need to go and get some), widened the trans tunnel to accomodate the r154, removed rear bumper, spoilers, tails and some other things.http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/20120725_195656.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/20120725_202657-1.jpg These ones are too big so ill place a link instead. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/20120725_202730.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/20120725_202740.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/20120725_202828.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/20130127_005149_zpsf5ab9f89.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20130716_190752_zpsd974c588.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20130716_220224_zps4f870b44.jpg
Shaggy_TSi
Then started working on it again late october last year. Bought some metal beams, four wheels and fabed up a way to move the car safely and easy, made a ramp to take it outside also. Started with a wash to remove all the dirt and dust it had inside and outside. Proceeded removing paint, wich was a PITA, tried using aircraft paint remover and it didnt even raised the clear coat, wich earned the nickname 'Iron Paint'. Used different tactics: grinding, scraping, heat gun and spatula lol, DA sander and a lot of elbow grease. The paint came out in big chunks wich was weird,( I even kept a piece ). There was a lot of bondo in some places and a lot of rust under that bondo . The drivers side quarter panel is where most of the work took place since it was replaced, but overall it turned out great. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131026_011519_zps2c49bbb4.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131027_220001_zps3e8c9e42.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131104_181742_zps1437a9e4.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131104_181821_zps03fbd9f5.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131104_181836_zps97766418.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131104_181754_zpsff22ad05.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20131105_162612_zpsfc6ea748.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20131105_162631_zpsbd8da389.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202012/20131105_162646_zps01c6f2c9.jpg Edited January 9, 2014 by Shaggy_TSi

Shaggy_TSi
After bringing the car to bare metal and applying anti-rust here and there, rewelded(?) the quarter panel wich was actually being held by spot welds . The doors were pretty clean just a little dent on the upperside, epoxy primer to both of them and the front fenders. Both fenders had a little work, front side replace the lower side with molded SS. Passenger side had a lot of bondo on it, removed it to reveal damage and a lot of holes, straighten it and paint. The roof had a dent on the dirvers side, again bondo and rust. http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131107_212318_zps80c5ae23.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131108_020728_zpsd0f988ea.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131113_185649_zpsb2872450.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131113_185712_zps9fdc1069.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131113_185729_zps6002a18b.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131113_185734_zps902e412c.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131113_185747_zps5987ab53.jpg http://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131113_185756_zps3ac7b724.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131112_190003_zps8c89b4b0.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131112_190019_zps94ae29c8.jpghttp://i438.photobucket.com/albums/qq103/Jocxellier/Resto%202013/20131112_190047_zps79359dc3.jpg
