BC_99
Got a call last week from a local buddy that has had his SQ on/off for several years, He traded for it, traded it off, got it back and so on... Anyhow, the last guy he traded it to killed the engine for the 3rd time since my buddy had the car. So, He finally got sick of pulling and rebuilding it and decided to try to sell or part out. Well, he didn't have his heart fully into parting out such a solid car so after he sold the engine, turbo, hard pipes and header panel, He called me and said come get it. Free with out the wheels/tires, gauges, and steering wheel or $300 as it sits. So, of course I had to kick in the $300, after all it has SHP wheels with good tires a wideband, and some aftermarket gauges and a grant GT wheel. Well, I know claurance2 has been looking around for a clean shell, so I called him and I think Im just going to pass the same deal on to him, provided he likes what he sees. But anyway, onto the pictures. White 88 SHP 5 speed car. Grazing with the herd.http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_172620_zpsfbb6331c.jpg Tail shot, amazingly it has the same dent in the LR 1/4 that the white 89 has???http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_172648_zpsbf45414d.jpg She needs a nose job.http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_172633_zpsfd93c4c9.jpg Close up of the denthttp://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_172700_zps13446b3d.jpg Nice clean Passenger sidehttp://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_172708_zps35fccfcd.jpg Junk in the trunkhttp://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_181932_zpsbbf66713.jpg ...and everywhere else, She needs some TLC!http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_181940_zps331ef06c.jpg Gauges WOOT!http://i601.photobucket.com/albums/tt93/BC_99/20130825_181948_zpsf1b50388.jpg So that's it. If James doesn't want it, and no one else does, then I suppose I will part it out or JZ it, which would mostly depend on how easily I can find a JZ/r154 combo to go in it. I bought my red '87 for $1200 some 8 years ago from a buddy who put in a brand new Marnal non jet head/ AJUSA gasket, ARP's and Walbro. Best $1200 ever speant. In recent years prices have gone up for these cars. You can't buy a running one for less than $2500 now a days.

Shelby
you don't find $300 deals like that any where these days one thing guys that have no idea what rebuilding an engine realy intails should not start such a project , the end result is a trip to a junk yard or some one that knows what to do gets a hell of a deal

They get greedy and think they can make big bucks parting out perfectly good cars. Only to find out the most common parts that sell right off the bat are engine/ trans, front air damn, turbos & intercoolers, tail lights a couple other small items. Then they are left with a limp shell with interior parts that take forever to sell if not never and body parts that are too expensive to ship. So then the once perfectly good car becomes trash at a scrap yard, only to be seen again in the form of Chinese made crap like shiny headers that break in 5 minutes of running. Last one I found for under $1K (in this area) was the '88 San Marino in my driveway...and that was over a year ago. So many young guys get into it 'cause they have a "built" Starion on Forza, and they go out and buy one for real, thinking it's going to be like building a B16 Civic motor. He had the car several times and every time he got it back, it had a spun bearing, was knocking, or some other mess he had to fix. He just got tired of wrenching all day on his 1 day off a week, especially when he has to wrench every day/all day at work. He knew I would find the car a home or keep it out of the junkyard and if I did part it out, he knows I would find people around here who needed stuff, so that at least it would serve a purpose. Nice find Britt and my hat is off to you for thinking about a fellow starquester getting the benefits of your find.Jimmy Thanks Jimmy, if we can't help each other out and set better examples for some of the nearsighted people to help each and quit bickering like a bunch of crabby old men or little children, we won't have anything left in the future to have a site for, and then what's the point of even coming to this site. claurance2
It's good to have a guy like Britt in your corner. Everything I ever needed Britt has came through for me. Not that others haven't but he's one that i can hit up local when i'm in a spot with the car. He knew i would be all over that white quest. That's the kind of dude he is. Britt we'll talk when i get a chance to come by.
Shelby
one major thing most guys over look , once a rod brg has made noise you can hear odds are the rod big end is out of round, thats the reason for multipul brg failures ,,the rod has to come out and be resizedalways mic the big end before puting in a new brg if the old brg shows bad wear
