get ready to have a smile on your face when you get it running right and not have to worry about that pos g54b taking a dump on you.

Dude, that day cant get here quick enough...lol. Ive had this car since I was 17 and after all the time and money I've put in to this thing, I think this should have been done YEARS ago. Hard to believe I've had this thing 12 years and I think I can count on one hand how many times it's run right.

Thanks for the compliment. It's a Starion though, Starions are faster than Conquests. Especially the black ones, because black cars are faster than red cars.

Ha! I hear ya.... I need to start reading a little more and stop assuming....lol. It just feels good to get back working with this car and getting advice from you guys. These cars just scream sexy. But with a 2jz, its going to be a whole new kind of sexy....lol.

thanks for the new section Robert looks like you really outdid yourself! The wiring and mounts turned out to be the easiest parts. The clutch and power steering were also easy as pie. Fitting the rad and depending on hoe big you go with an interrcooler that gets to be a pain with the bumper. Trans mount was easy. Hardest part is finding a place for everything and mounting it all in the engine bay. making brackets for everything as you go and remaking them since now its interfering with something else got tedious. id honestly suggest you go through the threads and print out all the important steps/pictures. I didn't and wished I had would have prevented some head scratching and desperate searching while in the middle of stuff

LOL... yeah don't take my sarcasm too seriously. Glad to see you're getting your SQ back in action, even with a vile swap.

Oh, I fixed the JZswappers section... seems it wasn't magically reliable... lol...

So we got the engine pulled this morning and now I start scratching my head and asking myself questions...lol.

Here is the POS G54b with the dominant motor sitting in the background.

Im guessing this is the pigtail I need to jump to the stock ECU???

http://i268.photobucket.com/albums/jj20/nucLearhemi/photo1.jpg

I started looking at my trans this morning too and from the pics I've seen of the W58, mine looks a little different. I guess its a different year?

What did you guys do with all the old wiring that is not needed?

I'm sure I'll have tons more questions as I go. I am going to be doing some more research tonight on all the questions I'm asking. Just thought it would be good for you guys to chime in....

Thanks,

Tristan

That w58 already has the right bellhousing on it correct? you'll need new shifter housing on it. All I used off the engine harness was the starter wire. Left the rest but tucked it away. Pull the p/s lines, vac lines, everything thats cluttered up...You don't need it. Ditch the ignitor/coil...

Yeah, tomorrow morning I'm going to pull all that mess out of the way. I just wasn't sure if you guys were pulling the stock harness out or just cutting and trashing what was not needed. I was going to try and do that this morning before I took some of these pictures but I was beat...lol. I had to get some rest.

The W58 was what I was unsure about. I need to get on google and search around to figure out what exactly this trans is. I looked all over it for some kind of infomation. Didnt see anything. The trans was bolted to the motor when it arrived, so I know it fits. It just looks different than what I've seen pictures of on these forums.

I ended up getting two nights off this week. So I stayed up on Friday and tried to get some stuff done. My brother and I went out hunting for a shifter assembly for the W58. The pull a part in charlotte didnt have s***. Went to a local junk yard and he had a couple celica supras. One was a automatic and the other evidently had a W58. The shifter area looked just like I needed it. The car was sitting on the ground and in a ton of weeds, so we werent able to get under the thing. We removed the shifter and plate we needed and got it for $35. Got back to the house and the damn thing wont fit. I think we needed the interal shifter rod. Here is a pic I grabbed off the net of the exact stuff I'm working with.....

I also had a question about what you guys did with this junction box for the brake lines. After you remove the box from the passenger side engine bay you have a open line for the brake fluid. Im guessing you run a line from where it comes out from behind the master cylinder to the line that needs removed???

To end on a good note. I did get my mounts from Vettekiller. You did a damn nice job Matt. Thanks a ton....

The housing bolts up but the shifter doesn't fit right??...You need the shifter rod...which unfortunatly needs the entire tailshaft removed to get to. Not sure you could do it with it in a car...

Yeah, the housing bolts up fine and that's what I was thinking. I'll have to get the internal parts to that thing. The more I mess with this W58 the more it makes me just want to buy the r154 and be done. I just need to find a good deal on one.

What did you guys do about that brake junction piece??

I removed the master cylinder and break booster this moring. Got rid of those couple extra brake lines and got the engine bay cleaned up. I have everything to do the timing belt change and my radiator showed up today as well. Things are coming together slowly. I'm ready to have this thing in the car and running. Would be nice to have more than one night off a week and not be working 12hrs a day. Just giving you guys an update........

I had Friday night off so I got up around 2 and me and my brother started tackling the engine bay again. We got most of the junk out of there and we were able to do some painting. Still going to put another coat on it. Im going to wait and paint the upper radiator support later.

Once I get all the stuff done on the motor, we'll be dropping it in the car. Im pretty stoked about all the work we've got done so far.

We did remove the A/C condenser. That was kind of a PITA. I do have a question about the wiring. Will I be using any wires from the stock harness for the intake? Like for a 12v source or what not? Once I start doing all this I may answer my own question but was just wondering...lol.

Here's some pictures of what Im talking about.....

I did end up getting that r154 from that guy off of supraforums. He should be shipping it out on Monday. Im excited about this project. Im so ready to hear this thing run.... :D
