My 2jz build experience

I got the fuel system done yesterday, along with the slave cylinder, painted the inside of the bumper where I had cut on it, and finally got my last coupler to finsih my intercooler piping. I did move the power steering resivour up (thanks Vette) and made a new bracket for it after noticing it was sitting to low. I still have to knock out the trans mount and deal with the wiring to get it to fire. Man I'm so close I can taste it....lol. Edited by orange_quest

I got the all the water lines run over the weekend. I started putting water in it to see if I had leaks before I tried to start it and low and behold I had a leak at one of the heater core hard lines coming through the firewall. It must have a small crack on the bottom side just where it enters the fire wall because I can not get it to seal. I spent a good hour trying different things to get it to stop leaking. So I said screw it for the time being and I won't have heat. I'll come back to it on a later date. After I got that figured out I put gas in the car and hit the switch and have a small leak up front on the fuel rail. My brother boogered up the threads on a fitting there. I thought it would be ok. Well it's not. So I had to reorder those parts to fix that. I could never figure the wiring out. Wiring pisses me off. I hate messing with it. Vette sent me some info so I'll be trying that out as soon as I get my fittings back. I also fabbed up a trans mount. Hopefully it holds........Heres some pictures.

You def need one. I was losing big power through mind and didn't think about it until I did a boost leak test. The factory one works if you still have it. I ordered one off ebay for 4$ or something.

So I've got the thing to idle decent but I'm having to completely cap the IAC. If I run a filter on the end of it like some of you guys are doing it wants to search for a idle or idle way too high. I'm confused about what it's doing. Going to continue to read some stuff here on the net and see what I can figure out. If you guys got any ideas of what it could be I would appriciate any help.

Here's the driveshaft. It took the shop just over a week to get it done. It's a really nice piece. They had to do some modification to the piece that bolts to the torque tube. Well, it's a whole new piece to be able to fit a spicer 1310. I would recommend them to anyone. Super nice guys and they knew about the 2jz's being swapped into the quest. I closed on my new house this past Tuesday, so I've been moving since last Thursday. I did sneak off long enough to install the driveshaft on the quest though..... Here's some pics.....

The car is running. I pulled it out of the garage a couple weekends ago. I pulled out making sure everything was operating correctly and once I got to about 40mph the whole car started shaking. I pulled it back into the garage, jacked it up and both tie rod ends need replaced. Im back working crazy hours again here at work and out of town. I dont have time to fool with it right now. I hope to order the parts and have my brother put them on for me. We'll see. It felt really good to pull it out of the garage though. Cant wait to drive it again.

That's a great build ! , these 1 and 2jz swaps make for great reading and the performance of these straight sixes speaks for itself , but it sure adds up adding in that "Supra tax" , good thing you got some overtime going on man ! :)
