All 4 struts now have paint on them, as do the front hubs too. And I got one of the rears together with some atf in there for heat dissipation, and installed it with the rear camber plate.

The brake line will get wire tied to the strut around the spring perch

13" brakes FTW

Got one of the front struts assembled and installed, but I'm gonna have to bend the tab that holds the brake line fitting on the strut 90° so it doesn't get stretched to it's limit (when turning to the left on this side)

looking good. Sucks where the caliper is located now.. I wish the kit kept them behind where they should be.

yeah, I agree, but for what I paid for the kit, I can't complain too much. but a new set of brackets to relocate to the rear might be worth my time down the road

On my way to cars and coffee last saturday I was next to a g35 with what was probably a big brake kit that placed the front calipers in the front. I think it won't be such a huge deal, and it can be offset in other areas, such as battery relocation to the trunk, but that's one more step to making it not a street car/DD. How much does the placement negatively affect the performance of the car as a percentage of the gains by having monster brakes? I bet it's a small percentage. :)

Damn skippy it'll be a small percentage, if you ever, ever noticed it I'd be mightily surprised. There is a bloke here in ChCh that has done a similar swap, starting here: http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=12691&start=150. Not overly great pictures unfortunately, but still pretty cool.

How much lighter are the alloy wilwoods that the original sliding calipers? I suppose moving to a larger rotor bring the unsprung weight back up again, but having the monster stoppers has to offset any imbalance there.

I've got a set of nissan alloy 4 pots from a skyline for mine. They'll be going on s14 uprights, can't remember whether this puts them infront or behind, but I'm sure it wont matter :)

Made a mount for the oil catch can, same can that was on the DTHSTAR, but with all the stock wire and hose routing on this car, I can't mount it right up against the firewall like I did on the DTHSTAR, so I had to move it to the outside by 1.75", up by 1.25" and forward by 2". test fit, right now I'm waiting on paint to dry, then it's getting installed, and then the head can drop back on the motor.

head is now on, not tightened down, but on. After the pics were taken I set the valve cover on top to keep dirt out

pulled the washer tank out, put the turbo on, and started thinking through how the intercooler is gonna mount, and how I'm gonna get the pipes to it

If you move the battery to the boot, it makes a nice amount of room over the passengers side for a cooler pipe to come through, then its just a straight shot to the intercooler under the headlight / indicator lights. That's how I'm doing mine... Its probably not overly great for length, but should be nice and easy to make up.

I'm trying to do the least I can to get her back on the road right now, next year I'll be redoing the engine bay completely, so if I can get away without having to run any extra wire, I will.

pipe routing will be close to what I had in the DTHSTAR, but straighter on the turbo side, and on the intake side I have to make my way around the ac compressor, and the battery, for now.

How is the Durban been coming along lately? Thanks for the help with my car and there is a good amount of motivation seeing a member like you showing us all the nice work you have done to your car. Makes me think of my next step

hasn't been much progress, I do have all the struts on it now, need to tighten stuff up, torque the head down, bleed brakes, bleed clutch, install wideband, mod intercooler pipes, and a couple other small things. I've been preoccupied with some other stuff, and the humidity has kept me out of the garage.

the sleeve-over kit is NLA (no longer available), Cosmo's are very similar, only having shorter threaded sleeves.

Breaks?, i have no breaks

I do however have BRAKES (please learn the correct spelling for car parts). it's the 13" kit you'll find on ebay for our cars. They do not fit behind the stock wheels though, will need 17's or larger. Their 12" kit however will fit in the stock wheels

So the past few days, I picked up some new wheels I'm gonna try and use on the car. Went over in to Wisconsin to pick them up (for a steal) and then swung by Speedyquest's and movin on's place to hang out for the 4th.

Anyway, here's a few pics...

As you'll see below, they are x4 rear 9's

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7050013.jpg

So for test fit, I stuck one of the ones I've already got on, it has a 245/45 tire on it, this is with the camber plates set where I had the DTHSTAR. OH and this is with a 15mm spacer

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7050007.jpg

here it is with the camber plates maxed for neg camber

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7050008.jpg

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7050009.jpg

And here's why I need the spacer...

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7050010.jpg

It clears the 13" BBK this way :D

but not by much

http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7050011.jpg

So now to pick up some 225/50r16 tires to run at each corner

I should be able to get a bit more camber from the plates, I'd like to not have a massively stretched tire up front, so I'd like to cap it at 225.

I feel I'll be able to tuck a 225, maybe go with 225/45, so the overall height isn't so short

went out this morning (before it got too hot outside) and messed with the camber some more.

Got the camber to around 3.5° to 4° negative  but once I get my fenders rolled, and get that lip folded over I think I'd be able to tuck that 245/45 a bit. So I'll try and grab some 225/45 for the front, and 225/50 tires for the rear. that should let me take a hair of the camber back out as well.

Not too bad imo, considering that's a 16x9 with a combined offset of -15 wearing a 245/45, ON THE FRONT!
