creakyjoints
Man that is a tight fit. Is it going to be able to turn without hitting, sitting on the ground?
D_Venable
So I'll try and grab some 225/45 for the front, and 225/50 tires for the rear. t
D_Venable
got the head torqued down yesterday, and today I made an attempt at repositioning the front power steering line and failed. but I got the airdam trimmed about 1" on the backside to fit the intercooler better, and have started planning the mounting brackets for it, which I'll make tomorrow night. sorry, no pics -Derek
Technology
No structural metal was cut in the making of this intercooler opening. I think it looks pretty good plus it retains the stock angle of the intercooler, and from the front, it looks straight up and down.

D_Venable
Got the intercooler mount bracket tacked together, I'll have to trim it a little to get the overflow tank to sit all the way down on it's bracket though, but the intercooler is hung http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7090020.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7090021.jpg http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7090022.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7090023.jpg -Derek

D_Venable
Just finished up the intercooler bracket, waiting on the paint to dry. notched it for the rad overflow bottle, welded it up after that, then painted it. I was working on a friends bike too (tank swapping on a 2010 Husqvarna 510 SMR he's letting me ride while his knee heals), that's why so little done tonight http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7100025.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7100026.jpg -Derek

D_Venable
Installed the intercooler bracket that's now painted, and hung the intercooler. Then got the hot side charge pipe tacked up. I'm reusing and modifying the pipes from the DTHSTAR http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130027.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130028.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130029.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130030.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130031.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130032.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7130033.jpg -Derek

D_Venable
well, Started on the driver's side "routing" by getting the battery located. The tray is actually a kit by a shop around here (might be out of business though) for an Evo 7-9 to run a "honda sized" battery, I got it as a free raffle prize from a local forum's dyno meet a few years ago. Turns out the 51-series batteries that auto parts stores recommend for our cars fit the tray perfectly. So a little bending of the mount tabs, and with 1 of 2 brackets to mount it made, I've got my battery situated, and plenty of room to run the intercooler piping. For the second bracket on the backside, I'll incorporate a hard mount point for the lower pipe so it doesn't rattle around. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7140034.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7140035.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7140036.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7140037.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7140038.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7140039.jpg -Derek

D_Venable
just over $600 shipped from tire rack. But you might notice the fronts have a different rating to them, the 225/50's are a Z-rated tire, the 225/45's are not But yeah, I love the tread pattern on them Edited July 19, 2012 by D_Venable

D_Venable
I'm still gonna need to strip all the new wheels (after getting the bent one fixed) including this color test, but I wanted to try a new gold color. The local autoparts store doesn't carry the Universal Gold engine enamel that I used on my original SHP wheels, so while getting a couple fittings at ACE I found this, and decided to try it. And I like it better, as its a little bit brighter than the Duplicolor on the originals. http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220044.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220045.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220046.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220047.jpg -Derek
D_Venable
made the second bracket for the battery tray, and have the ic pipe tacked together and routed under it to the intercooler. goona be a tight fir for the GM MAF, may have to shift a few things around, we'll see http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220048.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220049.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220050.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220051.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220052.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220053.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220054.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220055.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7220056.jpg -Derek
Ironside
Great work Derek, Did it make a big differance when you changed the routing of the I/C piping?I also want to change my car to a blow through setup.I'm getting tired of the rich hit between shifts. D_Venable
I would like to think it did, on the DTHSTAR I would still get the popping on decel, but that was an issue with the ISC and not knowing what rpms I was turning (tach never worked) but compared to my Durban when I first put a BOV on it, around town I'd get 17mpg, once I put the BOV on it, 14mpg. I was getting 17mpg consistently with the DTHSTAR (beating the snot out of it) with this blow-through setup and an RFL knockoff (I've got the real Turbo XS on the Durban)
D_Venable
Well, got the routing buttoned down, just gotta add 2 small pieces, one on each side of the GM MAF. But to get the room I needed, I had to ditch the stock upper rad hose, I grabbed the x2 45° couplers I used on the DTHSTAR, and just need a short straight coupler to link them together. Doing this gave me nearly 2" of room, just enough for the MAF http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7250058.jpg But things got a little "kinky", lolhttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7250059.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7250060.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7250061.jpg -Derek
Technology
The welds are much better looking than the first go-round on these pipes.
D_Venable
All intercooler pipes are fully welded, the 4th tube was a straight carryover, no mods where needed to it http://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7300062.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7300063.jpghttp://www.26liter.us/gallery/albums/userpics/15101/P7300064.jpg -Derek
