And I got one of the rears together with some atf in there for heat dissipation, and installed it with the rear camber plate. Technology Posted June 5, 2012 Report Share Posted June 5, 2012 On my way to cars and coffee last saturday I was next to a g35 with what was probably a big brake kit that placed the front calipers in the front. I think it won't be such a huge deal, and it can be offset in other areas, such as battery relocation to the trunk, but that's one more step to making it not a street car/DD. How much does the placement negatively affect the performance of the car as a percentage of the gains by having monster brakes? I bet it's a small percentage. There is a bloke here in ChCh that has done a similar swap, starting here: http://forums.austarion.com/viewtopic.php?t=12691&start=150. Not overly great pictures unfortunately, but still pretty cool. How much lighter are the alloy wilwoods that the original sliding calipers? I suppose moving to a larger rotor bring the unsprung weight back up again, but having the monster stoppers has to offset any imbalance there. I've got a set of nissan alloy 4 pots from a skyline for mine. ZacMan Posted June 13, 2012 Report Share Posted June 13, 2012 If you move the battery to the boot, it makes a nice amount of room over the passengers side for a cooler pipe to come through, then its just a straight shot to the intercooler under the headlight / indicator lights. D_Venable Posted June 13, 2012 Author Report Share Posted June 13, 2012 I'm trying to do the least I can to get her back on the road right now, next year I'll be redoing the engine bay completely, so if I can get away without having to run any extra wire, I will. pipe routing will be close to what I had in the DTHSTAR, but straighter on the turbo side, and on the intake side I have to make my way around the ac compressor, and the battery, for now. D_Venable Posted July 2, 2012 Author Report Share Posted July 2, 2012 hasn't been much progress, I do have all the struts on it now, need to tighten stuff up, torque the head down, bleed brakes, bleed clutch, install wideband, mod intercooler pipes, and a couple other small things. Breaks?, i have no breaks I do however have BRAKES (please learn the correct spelling for car parts). it's the 13" kit you'll find on ebay for our cars. They do not fit behind the stock wheels though, will need 17's or larger. Went over in to Wisconsin to pick them up (for a steal) and then swung by Speedyquest's and movin on's place to hang out for the 4th. Anyway, here's a few pics... Got the camber to around 3.5° to 4° negative but once I get my fenders rolled, and get that lip folded over I think I'd be able to tuck that 245/45 a bit.
