jonboyb
BOHO and I were talking today and it seems a couple people have used the stock mechanical speedo cable screwed into the R154 mechanical port on the tranny. Can anyone verify this or know how the couple of peeps have done this. I'm sure speeds aren't perfectly correct....but even having the needle operate is better than a dead gauge
Bill Hincher
http://www.billsautofab.com/images/RatioAdapter.jpg there are adapters available to any transmission to adjust the speedometer cable input to the speedometer, even if you need to use a short cable from the trans to the adapter you can get the adapters to fit/work, these are mostly used in 4wd trucks when changing tire sizes The secret to matching the ratio selecter to the speedometer is to mark off a mile on the road, reset your odometer on the speed head, drive the mile with the original speedo cable hooked up and see what the odometer measured ( lets say you know you went a mile but the odometer says you went .8 ths of a mile) take that information to your supplier and he can sell you the correct adapter

jonboyb
Sweetness.....thanks NotStock for the link. Not worried about the speedo being correct as much as having the gauge function. The Texas Mile SC300 I built with the 3.12 rear gear was like 40 MPH off at 100 MPH but with the GPS age it's so easy to determine actual speed vs. speedo reading. Funny story about the SC300....Brandon Martin that many of you know from here got a speeding ticket for like 75 in a 65 zone in it when the speedo was reading 45......he never believed me about how wrong it was till it was too late...LOL. jisleyjr
So it is simply just removing this sensor and then just plug in the stock speedo cable? Edited April 13, 2012 by jisleyjr
BOHO
No...You have the same unit I do. You need then entire mechanical unit like I showed in an earlier post. I'm about to hook up my electronic speedo and see if it will read this sensor..I'm not sure yet though.
