plh
I didn't notice before, but look the rims on the truck and car are the inverse of each other, lol http://www.mypants.org/86%20Olive%20Conquest/towrig.jpg What are the risks of towing 500 or 600 miles with this type set-up? Front wheels up, rear on the ground. 5 speed in Starion.

notfried
What are the risks of towing 500 or 600 miles with this type set-up? Front wheels up, rear on the ground. 5 speed in Starion. I have towed my orange one over two thousand miles all together on a dolley and it is just fine. Automatics you'll need to remove the driveshaft, but not manuals, but you can anyway, if you like. MikeMeyerhoff
Another big risk is the tire straps loosening up. Checking them frequently is a good idea.
jonboyb
Unfortunately my car hauler has to serve double duty as my wife's car and kid hauler. We needed 3-rows and the Tahoes and Expeditions were just too high used with low mileage so I did the unthinkable and went Mopar Can't complain.....Hemi does alright. Price was awesome compared to Chevy and Ford and the interior is pretty sweet. Severe Mad-Cow disease from the front though...LOL http://a.imageshack.us/img822/6599/p1060117.jpg

Don't risk it. The output shaft bearings don't get lubed when you tow that way. The output shaft is spinning the whole time you are towing, even when the trans is in neutral. How long do you think bearings will last when spinning without oil. Spoolinturbo found out the hard way. He went from florida to alaska with his SQ on a tow dolly and the trans in neutral. By the time he got there the trans was broken. You may say "but I'm only towing it 500 miles". So what, it still can break. Getting to your destination and finding out the trans broke on the way sucks.
