Was it hard to hook up?

No, but finding the fittings was a f-ing sob.. I had to go to a specialty store to get a line made. At first I hooked it up backwards...lol Once i knew what i was doing it wasnt that bad.

Looks like a long throw Vette, but the pic may be decieving.

Its actually super short, like an inch or so. I wanted it tall so I can grab it with ease in the time of need. I can unbolt it and point it downward when I'm not at the track.

Thanks, took a lot of elbow grease and cleaning supplies to bring it up to that standard, I still need to fix the drivers seat back bolster or if I can find them a nice set of period correct brown cloth Recaros.

That's the brass and aluminum one that I made. Way too small to actually use though, the brass is less than an inch diameter, lol...Just playing around. Yours looks good Lance!

EDIT: The "shift boot" looks pretty neat...What did you make that out of? Looks like it rests flat over the console or is that an illusion?

Thanks Polar. I would have bought one from you but I needed my shifter modified (it was too high) so I had it cut off, turned down and rethreaded, he had made one like you see above so I went with it since he was doing the mod anyway.

The boot is actually thick polyester spandex. I got it at a material store for $3.50 You pull the metal ring out of the old one and sew the polyester around the perimeter, cut a very small slit in the middle and your done. The flatness is an illusion. Because there is carpet padding that lifts it up a bit I didn't want to see the hump through the spandex so I pulled it up about 2 inches, taped it around the shaft of the shifter and slid rubber O-rings over the top to finish it off. Not bad for less than four bucks and the stretched look is really clean, no more dirt sitting in the crevisses of the shift boot.
