  6. Im trying to do this fairly cheap and my buddy wants to trade so i figured id ask if its possible lol
  7. ya i figured as much already. My line of thinking is cutting the two intakes and putting them together to make one that works.
  8. Has anyone ever tried to modify and use the FI system from an 89-90 240sx? A buddy of mine has one from his old engine and i was curious if anyone had ever tried it. http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx43/mandalore666/Conquest/20756310016_large.jpg http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx43/mandalore666/Conquest/33108160036_large.jpg Now I do realize that id be changing from a left side set up to a right but I figured id adapt the two manifolds together into one. These are random Google images.
  9. its Durban Maroon lol i have also been yelled at for calling it purple
  10. Im running my fans off a switch. Im using 10 gauge wire, an inline fuse 25/30 amp, and toggle switch rated for 20V DC if i remember right, I had a melt down so Im speaking from experience lol.The down sides I was also told it could kill the alternator and the battery if left like that to long and if you forget to turn them on your car will overheat in no time.
  11. Thanks Rabbit. that should help alot
  12. Ok so my alternator went out, so i got my spare out and it doesnt work either >< so im looking to do the GM upgrade but i cant seem to find specifics on how to do this. i need to know the wiring conversion for the hook up, the type/year/size of alternator i can use/need, and any install info ill need. Thanks in advance to any and all who help out.
  13. correction i believe the shaft is bent so it would be more cost effective to just not mess with this one right?
  14. i completely disassembled the turbo and the onlything with any sign of wear and tear was the compression turbine, all the internals are in fairly good shape.
  15. does that mean there is no hope for it?
  16. the internals seem to be ok in it but the turbine is a little chewed up. i figured id replace it as well if im gonna rebuild it.
  17. do you have any links or anything to starting with a knock off and rebuilding it?
  18. ya i think its toast as far as im concerned http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx43/mandalore666/Conquest/100_1291.jpg
  19. so i can just buy garrett rebuild stuff and redo it and use it? there wouldnt be and brand compatibility issues?
  20. thought it might be this one to but i have no way of telling http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CXR&Product_Code=TRB-T04E&Category_Code=TOCH
  21. damn was afraid of that figures that id have a knock off
  22. Side view http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx43/mandalore666/Conquest/100_1292.jpg
  23. Can anyone tell me what this turbo is? I looked around and closest i found was it could be a Garrett GT3071R, but it doesnt say Garret on it anywhere. http://i740.photobucket.com/albums/xx43/mandalore666/Conquest/100_1290.jpg
  24. I plan to but i needed a vehicle and that was the quickest way to get one so thats what i had to do. Im in the process of getting everything back to the way is supposed to be. And the thermostat that was in the engine when i got had been messed with. Somebody had cut it apart, cut the spring, welded it back together and put it back in. I tried testing it and it didnt even work. But i have another thermostat im putting in later today. And the fans arent connected to the alternator I have them wired to the battery and a switch breaking the power so i can control them. I have another set of fans if these burn up so its all temporary.
  25. I fixed half the problem of rough and hot. I had a leak in the water pump gasket that only became a visible problem when it was running. Everything is mostly stock (radiator cap, intercooler, etc.) fans are hot wired to a switch i can flip on and off, no thermostat but im putting one in soon, has air dam and guide, timing is as close as we can get it and no one has been able to get it perfect, no grass or bugs, exhaust is clear, radiator shouldnt be plugged up i believe my father flushed it out. And i will have to check out all the oil system components when i replace the gasket, filter, and sensor. I think it needs rebuilt because it has been ran hard since it last had anything done to it over all, so id rather be safe than sorry.
