So 315/35-17s Fit.

Yep. I've read through just about every wheel-fitment thread I could find on this site, and I recall specifically when Sully posted that 315s would not fit in Starion/Conquest fenderwells. Looks like I proved that wrong:

Wheel is a 17x10.5" +27 SVT Cobra, tire is 315/35R-17 Sumitomo HTR-Z [also called the HT35Z], using a 1-1/4" [31mm?] adapter. These snaps are with the car on the ground unloaded, but there's just over a 1/4" of space between the tire shoulder and a stock unrolled rear arch when compressed. In the pics above you can see the clearance between the strut tube and perch, and the tire sidewall - I can fit my index finger between the two with little effort.

I hung the fronts [275/40R-17 Nexen N3000s on a 17x9" +24] on the lugs to get an idea of the look:

But turned out I was this far off [the sidewall and tread block were rubbing the spring perch and strut casing]:

But since I was going to try and be HellaFlush, I ditched the 315s in favor of a 245/40 on the 10.5", and sold the 275/40s in favor of 225/45s on the 9" fronts.

BIG size difference. I honestly feel like there's too-little tire on there now. I may swap the 315s back onto the rears, and buy a pair of matching Sumitomos in 275/40 flavor for the fronts. I've yet to install the 225/45s on the front with the adapter, though I plan to today. I'll be sure to post up my progress tonight.

Also - for those that originally wanted to know however long ago, here's an SHP 9" with a 215/45-16 Azenis RT-615:

WAY too much stretch, and WAY too little tire. It's great fitment for S13 Nissans though.

I've got too many tires to play with.

There's more back there, you just can't see them. I've got probably 60 tires in there strewn about.

Also working on the wheel gap issue. I compressed the suspension with a jack while the car was still in the air, and had little issue.

It looks like the tire is outside the fenderwell so I'm not sure Sully was actually wrong. Also I wouldn't be so sure they won't rub with a 1/4" gap while the suspension is unloaded. You'd be surprised how much the suspension moves under different loads.

The 1/4" gap is with the suspension compressed. I have a feeling these Sumitomos may not be as wide as indicated.

So I traded a pair of my 1-1/4" spacers for 2" units out back. I'm thinking with a bit less fender gap this would look good.

Sorry stretch-tire-haters, I've failed you.

I do like how it looks, but I feel a 3/4" spacer up front with 275/40s, and a 1-1/4" spacer out back with 315/35s may be just the ticket for the car. I'll probably get sick of the stretch tire after a bit, anyway.

If only those rims had lip... SOME lip... any lip!! Find a cop, they've got a lot of lip they gave give you... more than you'd ever want/need most likely.

But, damn... that's some 4x4 mode you got goin on there!!

FYI this what the same size/ offset wheels look like with 275/40/17 on the rear. The fronts are 245/45/17.

If I had a dollar for every time someone told me that my car sits too high, I'd have a lower sitting car.

If you'd like to donate $1 to the "Help nomad lower his car fund", PM me for paypal information.

Here's some inspiration...

^ Agreed! These SVTs will probably be powder-coated white with the addition of new tires. Yes I know my car "needs more low", that's coming. ^_^

Nomad, what size spacers are you running up front? I noticed in your post on the Wheel-Fitment Thread you said you have no spacer up front, but I see one in the pic above. Hopefully I can get mine to fit as nice as yours, once proper tire and low have been achieved.

I'd already have new tires, but I spent all my play money on this beast:

Dave-O, the spacer I have on the front now is a cheap slip on about 7mm. Have had no issue with them yet, but I have already pruchased extended studs to install soon. I will be dropping the car in a couple of weeks (cosmos/mr2), so I may run into problems on the front once I'm low. Right now the stock perch is above the bead of the wheel. I'm not sure what will change w the cosmos. And I may have to roll th fenders.

Oh, on the back is a 25mm bolt on adapter.

Good to know, thanks for the information.
