NudeLobster
well, call me crazy, but I've always wondered what a muscle car based muffler/resonator would sound like on our little 4 bangers. Specifically, Ive been interested in SLP's powerflo mufflers and loudmouth resonators http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=310301226http://www.slponline.com/view_product.asp?P=310301660AM this is what the resonators sound like on a V6.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=106fk-d11F8 How do you think they would sound on an SQ? I think it would have great tone. the mufflers are quieter, but there arent many videos of them. here is a video of the mufflers on a v8... thoughts? -Nude
apedog
The v6 mustang sounds so ricey but the v8 was nice

NudeLobster
hmm, do you have a video of your car quickconq? I know it won't sound anything like the stangs, but I figured it would still sound a lot throaty-er than anything like HKS or Aspec, ect
strang3majik
I have a flowmaster 40, 3"in, 3" out...sounds very throaty. I like it, nothing like a V8...but, sounds like a PO'd 4 banger

NudeLobster
hmm, ok ill look into some other stuff like that then too. Im picking up my conquest this week its all completely original, so I figured exhaust, FMIC, and coilovers where the first to get thrown on. I would normally say get to a 100% solid working order, but this thing is already clean as hell. 79,000 miles, stored winters, zero rust, ect. heres the pics i took when i went to check it out: http://s213.photobucket.com/albums/cc92/pocketrocket1331/conquest%20at%20111th%20and%20harlem/ this thing is CLEAN. 4000 bucks
Technology
Wow, looks like a great deal on that quest. Get some nice hard pipes to go along with the new intercooler, and coilovers will make such a huge difference in stance and handling.
psu_Crash
psu-crash had posted a few videos of his car before. hes running three inch to duel tips. seen his car in person and it sounds good. Thanks Ryan! Here's a clip of the car just at idle last winter. The last bit of the vid you can hear it. I really like the way it sounds. This is with a 3" downpipe into a flowmaster with 2 x 2.5" outlets. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoFbXPkGCbQ
NudeLobster
tech: thanks! yeah, I was about to buy an 86 SVO mustang I found when this SQ popped up and I was like CLEAN, CLEAN, MINE. haha. As for the coilover's, what kit would you guys suggest? I was looking at the ground control kit, but what shocks/struts would you recommend with a kit like that? Also, I hear the GC kits need a little modifying to work well, is that true? if so, is there a kit that works really well out of the box? I have no problem modifying, I just need to make sure I know what I'm doing then when I modify the kit or anything else because I'm 16 and I can't have the car sitting in the shop for more than a few days (by shop I mean the MIDAS shops I have access to as my dad owns a pair of them. I don't mean it as in having someone else do the work, This car is going to be my pride and joy and I want to do ALL the work on it). I plan On running the stock wheels on it for a long time, because that 1k in aftermarket wheels can go towards more important things, and plus 1k is a 2-3 months working for me, so new wheels are like mid list hah) Psu: that sounds awesome, I'll have to look into a set up like that. I was planing on a *DM turbo back 3" system, So a muffler is the only thing i still need to decide on. I like that flow master, although I'm still juggling the idea of that SLP Powerflo muffler (not the LM resonators). thanks for all the input guys! Turborusty
My car was mostly stock with 2.5" exhaust and a 3" straight through Magnaflow....it had a real nice, deep tone and sounded great! Turborusty

The last I heard he is no longer making exhaust. 3" is too big unless you go 300+HP the 2.5" setups work great for the street. I suggest the HKS cat back setup. Sounds great. Here's my car with no cats and an HKS. There are 2 driveby shots at the end of the video.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okkILV5-2uw

Dave-O
I've noticed [at least on Camaros and Mustangs] that the SLP Loudmouth gives the same overall raspy open sound that a Thrush straight-thru or Magnaflow bullet resonator will. I honestly think a nice chambered muffler like a Maggie or Delta-44 really smooths out the tractor-like sounds of our 2.6-liter lump.
IntercooledFlatty
i almost bought a slp loudmouth but the dood wanted too much for it, it was used. i went with a purple hornie, http://www.amazon.com/Flowtech-50231FLT-Hornies-Turnout-Muffler/dp/B0002M9PBG, basically because it's 3" in n out and it bolts right up to my 3" DP. it has a surprisingly deep rumble too it and sounds like nothing i've ever heard on a quest. http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/aiche_photos/Yella%20Quest/bananaexhaust1.jpgthe hooker aero chamber is one of the nicest mufflers i have heard on a quest, it's deep tone sets off car alarms on decel through the 3" http://www.summitracing.com/parts/HOK-21505HKR/http://i154.photobucket.com/albums/s263/aiche_photos/89%20Fiji%202/89Fiji258.jpg
Shelby
a turbo engine is never gona sound like a v8,,unless the v8 has turbo's also,my 2.5" when it was brand new would rumble and pop on a decell but after the resonator got a little build up in it, it mostly stop'd doing it
Burton
Keep the SLP stuff for the Pontiacs, Camaros and Corvettes. With the money you spend on a SLP setup you can have two setups that will sound better anyway. I got 2.5 with a Megan Racing muffler ans electric exhaust dump. I'm about to step up tp 3", but I'll buy another cheapie muffler. The Megan Racing one sounds WAY better than the Flowmaster did, and was like $50 shipped to my door.
