Hello Everyone

I just got this 88 Quest on 2/19/13, 64K miles lots of dents and dings, clear coat fade, road hard and put away wet. With that being said there is no RUST anywhere, and SHP adjustable shocks that are still good! Good leather int.

Spent all yesterday and most the day today working on it (had to order lots of parts) Running well now, but going to need injectors 1st is okay secondarily so/so. Gave it a quick bath and got some pictures with my Iphone so they are not the best. I'll post more pictures after its get a rear cleaning. After the 18+ hour trip in one day to get it and the 18+ hours of working on her in last two days more if you count part finding time, I got to go back to work! Bummer I could spend the next week or weeks going though this ride!

Also would like to find some stock wheels, the Staggered 18's are okay, I just prefer the Stock look.

Anywho on with the pictures

nice car man. Great find

those rims arent bad at all, looks like they have some spacers behind them though.

bring them over if you want to get some stock rims, i'll trade with you ;)

Great! I work Friday, but I'm off Saturday. Are you free Saturday?

And yes they do have spacers on them.

What shape are your stock wheels in, any rubber on them?

Thanks Freebird

Clean lookin car man, welcome to the fiji club. B) I can't believe someone would just screw a license plate into the front bumper like that. I agree it needs stock wheels.

Yeah I know! I was upset when I saw that the previous put two holes in the bumper for the plate. Freebird hooked me up with some great stock wheels, plate bracket and other odds and ends.

I'll post some more pictures soon...

looks like my old one ( minus the wheels )

Never Know, would be nice to know more on the past of the car! Do you remember the last 6 of your VIN, or anything/ mark you left on the car. Sometimes when a do a large job on a car I'll write the date, miles and what I did on the car on the part or near it. Little notes left behind for the next owner. Auto Archaeological can be fun.

I'll never sell this Quest, I've wanted one far to long.

THANKS for the wheels freebird and other parts!

UPDATE::

I've be going over the car, replacing parts, changing all fluids, and ordering odds and end. Going over everything. Basic stuff. Also been tracking small electrical problem. I found in the past A's&-Q's on here people with same problem. Resources here are great! Also been cleaning all electrical ports and plugs.

All in all i now have it running very smooth all though the RPM's now. Purrs very nice at idle with no jumps. ^_^

On the way to the shop WITH new wheels studs for all four wheels....this happened....

Don't worry not to much damage, I already had a dent it that fender. The wheel pushed the dent out for the most part. Got lucky there!!! Paint will come after I have it running like new! Then tunes and upgrades...but lets not get to far ahead.

Now I believe that I need a heater core, I have steam that forms on my window. Small amount for now, but I don't want it to puke in my car. That would not be fun to clean out of the dash and carpet. This will give me a great chance to go over everything behind the dash. Make sure all is in order and fix some rattles and squeeks going on in there. Do a steering column rebuild. I've read on here that most people that order a new core end up having to have it repaired at a local shop. I think I'm going to just take mine to my local radiator guy. He's always done me right with my other cars. Or should I order a new one, also found a local guy with a used one from a parts car with a rear wiper motor I think I need. What do you guys think??

I'm going to be doing a heater core on my Quest, in the next week and had some dumb questions. If anyone is reading and has done this before, besides the common sense stuff (clean, check, replace) and replacing "The Most Neglected Heater Hose on a Starquest" by ucw458, does anyone have any advice on other projects to do while I have dash apart?

I'm going to do the "How to Rebuild the Steering Column" by Kev. Might as well while I'm in there!

Any advice on things to go get before I start and parts to order would be great! Or if there is another common problem that I fix in the dash. I can take care of that now. Less trips to parts store and less time taking off the road is always best! Not that I'm going to rush the job, I'm giving myself 5-7 days.

Thanks ucw458 and Kev for the how to on the forms here. Any other links are great if you know of them, I may have missed something.

Thank you for any other help

Thanks for the heads up! I got the camera ready, two boxes zip-lock bags, and white tape for labels.

I'm going to take my time, do it right!
