you are not going to get anywhere near 2,500 from a junkyard. How rough is the idle? Injector problems? If you really want it gone and want to save one, maybe post it on eBay motors. Start it at 1,200 and let it ride, see where it goes.

I just replaced my PS pump two weeks ago. I like getting the bad parts off ASAP. My new pump came from Rock Auto.

I hope this experience is one you can learn from. Our cars are getting older, we need to keep as many out there as we can. I cannot see smashing them for bad reasons. I would hate to be hit from behind by someone at ballistic speeds. You got really lucky, someone could easily have been killed. The StarQuest community doesn't really need crap like this going on. There are wives and kids out there on those roads.
