If this wiring diagram I posted in the first post doesn't help then you shouldn't be putting this system together. This is the far most easiest setup I've done.
I'm sorry my post was in reply to the one about using a stock dist. for COP not about using an 80.00 tach adapter

Go with MSII and use a magna dist that way you have your sensors for later that you need and you can just run a single coil for now, I bet it won't be long you'll have to run that setup

http://www.b2600turbo.com/k110506.mpg

works just fine

You can not get the magna dist. that easy. Some people do not like to wait. If this wiring diagram I posted in the first post doesn't help then you shouldn't be putting this system together. This is the far most easiest setup I've done.

was easily acquired from www.ebay.com.au

yea but they don't really do international i'm quite surprise that they sent it out for ya

I have the full FIP setup and my car runs great!

Here are a few maps if you want to try them.

Remember every car is not alike :!:
This was my current map for the stock cam setup.

You may need to add or take away 5% fuel from the VE table
80 pka and under, at all RPM range.

as for triggering, no. Its been tried. I never really looked too much into it and you will have to some mods inside the MS. As for the single coil, you could make it work but I did it once and it worked like crap so thats y I went msd 6a route. I know this would be a cheaper route but do you really wanna deal with the hard stuff? This is the whole reason I set this up its probably the most simple way to go.

The problem is no one ever says exactly how to hook up anything the right way it is always left open what wires go where? what wheres do you leave?where do the ones you leave go, how do they go I mean this has a sticky for what it is a very poor informative trend

I setup my ignition system exactly as documented by cashaudio and my car runs perfectly. I have megasquirt 2 v3.0 using a VR sensor output. Setting up the fuel system is very straightforward and the documentation that is available in the megamanual online gives a great explanation of how to do things right and what to do if there are problems. When you criticize member's threads, you make them not want to post information that might be usefull to another member. I have found a wealth of information on this site.

The hardware and code is different between the two versions. You should ask a similar question on the msefi.com forums.

Hey guys whats up I'm having some issues with stalling but thats another story. I am running the stock ignition with a mallory box and a tach adapter to the ms 1 v3.0. and was wondering whats the best was to upgrade to control spark? I'm using msns with the 12+12 tables. Can I still use this setup or do I need to upgrade to ms 2 I'd rather not if I dont have to. Thanks...

Pm Button on the boards. He's running megasquirt and spark with a 7 pin module from a GM dizzy controlling the ignition. There's a write up of his whole setup. I tried it initially, but I was having issues frying the GM HEI 7 pin modules so I upgraded to the MS2.

hey guys I just picked up my msd adapter 8509 like cash used to create the same output as the msd 6al with the stock pickup in the dizzy. I wired it in and I have my rpm input to my ms1 v3.0 using my hall opt input on the megasquirt. my question is how do I wire the output ckt inside the ms to the white wire pin #36? do I wire the vb921 with the 330 ohm from r26 to igbtin, igbtout to ign and jump r43? also what settings in the spark sections do I use for this settup in msns? do I use led17 to sparka and led18 to irq trigger? not quite sure what else to set. I locked the dizzy like the diagram from fip I guess. the ms is getting a good signal from the 8509 just not sure about the output part of the settup any help would be greatly appeaciated... Thanks...

we are in the same boat. when i talked to CashAudio, he said to make sure the MS had VR-in and VR-out. that was it. then wire it up like he showed in the diagram in the first post.

if you have a ms board version 3.0, a 6al is a waste of money.. plain and simple.. The onboard VB921 will push more than enough power.

but the 6al does look a lot cooler...

I installed the msd 8509 and it works pretty well with the hall opt input on the ms. I have rpm signal on the ms and I wired up the vb 921 output and set led 17 to spark output and fixed dwell with 50% and I got it to start but I need to adjust the dizzy and get the trigger angle right. I also am having some trouble with the ms reseting somtimes but that shouldn't be a big deal. But at least it's running. If you need any info on how to set it up with ms1 v3.0 and the 8509 let me know. I'll keep you posted on how it's running.
