MightyMaxGS-T
I'm trying to run wasted spark on my g54b. I need to figure out how to setup the trigger on the crank. How do you guys end up doing it? Pics would definitely help. Or if someone wants to sell me their trigger wheel setup, i would appreciate that also. CaliConquestAlex
Mookeeh(101propose) sells a complete kit with a replacement crank pulley w/ trigger wheel and a vr sensor mounting bracket. This is for use with the Ford EDIS 4 system. You can find his stuff on ebay. I run that setup and it's flawless.
ESIrType?
I'll see if I can get some pics of mine for you. I did mine years ago before there was someone producing a kit for these. It wasn't bad to do. The worst was getting the missing tooth wheel to line up on the pulley. I had a spare pulley, so I used that. Shawn
importwarrior
here is a link to my setup i built. i sent it out to 101propose now they sell them on Ebay. They did actually refine it but the original design was from one of my setups. on a side note i did remove the ac section off of my aluminum pulley. then added the EDIS wheel. bracket pics http://s139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/M%20P%20I%20project/ pully pics http://s139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/aluminum%20pulley/ http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/M%20P%20I%20project/9.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/aluminum%20pulley/3.jpg http://i139.photobucket.com/albums/q299/I-W/aluminum%20pulley/1.jpg
importwarrior
The alternative to crank trigger and probably much easier to install / setup.due to chain stretch and slack in the timing chain might not be the best for high boost setups. http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113656&hl=
Technology
Chain stretch, lol. Use a cam angle sensor from a DSM or something like that mighty max distributor. It's so simple. It's available in every junk yard, and you can even get stock, programmable ecus from other cars and use them in your car. That's what I did. Just used DSM stuff on my engine and it worked great.

MightyMaxGS-T
@technology i guess i could use the dsm crank angle sensor and modify my current distributor to mate with the eclipse CAS? http://i1199.photobucket.com/albums/aa475/Taeisallin/1348317957_zpsdadea906.jpgIf you use aem ems4, you don't need to get the Edis from ford. psu_Crash
Using the base of the Mighty Max distributor as a CAS will save you a lot of work compared to the DSM CAS.
importwarrior
agree! here is a post i made. i still have a few spacers left somewhere.http://www.starquestclub.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=113656&hl=

The reason I did it a while back, was it was easy, and cheap. I wanted to get rid of the stock distrib and coil too. I'm not stuck on the EDIS setup, but more so the crank triggering setup. I am running direct drive now. If I had to do it again, I would probably go the same route, but with a COP setup instead. Shawn
MightyMaxGS-T
I'm definitely not a fan of EDIS because I need good spark energy so I don't have to run a .015 gap and be able to take the revs pretty high when i get on the dyno. This is a pretty high horsepower build so I want to make sure my ignition is up to par. I ended up ordering a brand new 91 Mighty Max distributor and i'll make a nice cover for it when I get it. I just finished building my intake manifold and this is one of the last pieces that i needed to have a complete engine. I may start a build thread as well. There are plenty of options out there for CDI with wasted spark. The Dynatek Ignition CDI ARC-2 is a DUAL CDI with multistrike up to 4500rpm, rev limiter, launch limiter and a fixed timing retard, all built into the base unit. The EDIS just decides WHEN to spark, you have the choice of what to make the spark with.. Cheers.

I had the same problem with coil saturation. At 5300 rpms under load the car lost all power. It ended up being the stock EDIS coil. I changed over to an Accel coil and my problem was solved. I was running .28 gap also.I haven't driven the car in years, and have made a lot of changes since then. I will have to see how the direct drive works now vs the EDIS module.
