gabea101
I live in Texas now and my 87 Starion is getting hot. I just installed a refurbished A/C unit and now its getting even hotter. The temp gage is a little past the half mark. I changed the thermostat already. What can I do? Any feedback will help.

scott87star
Make sure your radiator cap is good, as in holding the rated pressure.

JohnnyWadd
Both fans should come on. http://coolcatcorp.com/Merchant5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=CEC&Product_Code=radsw16&Category_Code=CS Its either bad fan relays or bad temp sensors. Ground the sensor at the bottom of the radiator and if the fan runs the relay is good. Now if the fan does not run when the radiator is hot the temp sensor is bad. If you got one temp sensor working you can wire the fan to that sensor so it turns on both fans. If you have one fan running then at least at least that sensor is working. Wire the other fan to that sensor while you wait for the new one to show up.

MikeMeyerhoff
It might be worth pulling the radiator and having a shop clean it. SQ are bad about collecting debris between the ac and radiator at the bottom, so when you pull the radiator you can clean all that crap out of there real good. Spend some time straightening fins if they are all mashed. And the fan shroud is supposed to SEAL to the radiator. There was originally a foam piece between the two that is probably long gone. Some cheapy closed cell weatherstripping helps.

Tim_C.
Never saw any weatherstripping on any of my flatties, but I always thought it should be. I was concerned about burning up whatever I put in there, so I never have. Is there a recommended foam strip that can be used here? I'm sure I could find one, but maybe someone has done it before with good results.
MikeMeyerhoff
I've just used regular hardware store stuff. You are probably right that it won't last forever. I just replace it every time I take the shroud off since the adheasive will be toast.
